Man, im so excited, I wanted to get a scion so bad last year, but college payments were holding me back, So for the past 6 months ive been working 2 jobs saving up for the new scion xb, only to find that the new XD looks sick! And I finally have 5k! How much do you think they are gonna release this baby for? I hope the body kit doesn't cost 2 grand =(

I'm curious to hear how much these are going to go for also. That'd be the selling point for me... the extra HP would be a nice change, plus the manual doesn't lose any MPG

My guess would be that the base is $15,000, maybe a bit more.

Something tells me this will stay close the xA's price... maybe $14k and change.. If not Scion/Toyota is beginning to lose their mind and market.

I think it will be closer to the current xB's price.

If the xD is anywhere around the mid to high 15s stock w/out any options, that would be a disappointment considering how affordable the xA is now.

well, add in the cost of a bigger engine, more airbags, and anything else you added, and it's understandable why it might be an extra thousand or two.

I would think that $15k for a base, including destination charge, would be reasonable.

closer to 17. kia rondo range.

Scion will be making a mistake if the price jumps way up. A $17k+ base price will turn off a lot people.....including me, IMO. :loser:

"closer" to 17....;) I'm assuming base models will be lower (and difficult to find because of dealer upgrades in inventory.)

I'd bet the xD will creep into the 1st gen xB territory, maybe 15.5ish, while the xB2 hits clost to the tC's price. I'll also bet that the all-new tC ('09 MY?) gets pretty close to 19 base.

And I'm sure they will be worth every penny.

I think Toyota can creep the prices up a bit since they now have the Yaris slotting below the xAs price...

I'm thinking of buying the xA and talked to the dealer about the base price for the xD since it is coming out in August 2006. Although Scion has not come up with a pricing scale yet, the dealer said the base price is substantially higher than the xA, around the $16,000-$17,000 range instead of the $13,800K for the xA.

If that's true, i'm gonna be one sad kid. Thats far too much for the lowest entry level car from scion....

I hope that's not true, maybe they just wanted to sell you an xA?

The tC starts at 17, and that's got alot more goodies than the xD does..

They're just trying to get you into an xA. The dealer will never be honest about future models... especially when they can get you into an old car thats taking up space on the lot.

And it definately won't be priced anywhere near the Kia Ronda, thats a completely different segment. The Ronda competes with the Mazda5 while the xD competes with the Versa and Fit.

Scion will be making a mistake if the price jumps way up. A $17k+ base price will turn off a lot people.....including me, IMO. :loser:Considering they already made a mistake by growing it larger and using a larger engine it only stands to reason you have to pay to play. If they stay close to 15K I'll be surprised. :lalala:

It will compete with the Rio not the RRondo. They're still Kia's any way you will look at it.

$13.5= okok..I'll check it out. If its 1/2 as enjoyable as my xA Good Deal!
$14k = well...It's still a bargin but that's getting a little high.
$15k= Hummmmm...
$16K= get a Fit.

I've got to say, the xD is better than the Fit at $16k no matter how you look at it. Better sound system, more magical rear seat setup, comparable size, more available accessories, and an equal, if not barely superior standard feature set; it competes more favorably over the Fit.

I agree! I like the xD better and I did buy an '06 xA and do prefer the Scion brand over Honda. But a fully loaded Fit Sport is $15,170. Scion may push buyers away if the price hits $16.

was told by my dealer the xd will start at $16k and will arrive at dealers in August. the xb2 starts at $17k and is coming out next month(dealers already taking orders)

Sheesh, I hope to goodness it's not $15-16k! It's starting to get hard to find a decent economy car around here! Everything keeps getting bigger and better, but they're not filling the entry level gap. If the companies keep this up, the only thing left will be a stripped down Yaris!

I was actually planning on buying a smart fortwo in '08 (go ahead and laugh!), but I just found out today that the price is going to be $1-2k higher per unit than originally stated, so they can kiss my furry white behind. Can you imagine a 4 foot long 2-seater with 80hp that starts @ $12k, up to $17k, BEFORE taxes and options? Insanity, it is! That's why I started to check out the xD, but now it sounds like there's a good chance it'll be getting a price bump too.

I guess I'm destined for a freakin' bobble-headed Yaris!

I just hope toyota stops being an ahole and give us a 5door yaris with a tach and the availability of side airbags everywhere and not select zip codes. As for the smart car, that thing is a big rip off. $12-17k for a two seater death trap is just rediculous. You can never get me in one of those things even if u paid me. with all the soccer moms driving expeditions and suburbans with a cellphone in one ear and a latte in the other hand, yea I might as well drive a motorcycle as I will have the same amount of protection. And they're not even bringing over the diesel version which is the one that gets the great gas mileage. With that car all ur paying for is the novelty of having one, I also would like to know what the mark ups are going to be on these lil things.
