Default someone tried to bust into my tC......

so i got in the car, closed the door and hear the sound of little pieces falling. I look to the right and my passenger side window had just shattered. Luckily, because of the tint, glass didn't spill all over the place. It just had this spiderweb effect with 10,000 little pieces. I got out to look and it appears that someone was in the process of getting in. I didn't notice anyone in the parking lot when i was walking to my car, but i wasn't really paying attention, either. The bottom left corner of the glass, closest to the b pillar was pushed in slightly and there was a hole. When i looked inside, the tint was clearly pushed inward as if someone had a screwdriver and popped it partly through. Why would someone do this to try to get in? Wouldn't they just break the window , unlock it and hop in? My brother said he's sure it was an attempted theft since you don't break the driver's side and drive off with it while sitting on glass.

Any idea of how much this will set me back?

what would be the purpose of it? just vandalism or did i possibly get there at the right time and they didn't have a chance to finish breaking in?

i dunno, it could be either. I dont think vandalism as it doesnt seem of that nature.. possibly an accident most most likely not. If I was steailing the tC I would break the rear window and unlock it like that I guess.. it sucks but best of luck

a side window will probably run you about 300 bucks, but your insurance should cover it.

got it fixed today. my buddy had a source who did it for $140. Just need to get it retinted now. It looks ugly driving around with one non tinted window. I realized that tinted windows add safety on top of looking cool. The window was in 1,000 pieces, but stayed in place because of the film. If I ever get pulled over and the cop tells me I have illegal tint, I'm going to say, "sir, it's a safety feature". haha.

Dang, that sucks...at least they didn't take anything. I had my old car broken into about 4 times, and each time they stole something ...I never put a radio back into that car.

alot of times stolen cars have the passenger window broken out. because this way they can drive around and it just looks like the window is down. and they dont do the driver side window because theyd have to sit on broken glass (like previously stated) they wouldnt bust the rear hatch window out, because if a cop saw it, they would be pulled over. and then they're screwed. but im going to go with vandalism only because if they wanted in that bad..they would have made sure the window fell through. its not hard to push a window through once its spider webbed. unless you were there on time, and they took off. i guess youll never fully know what was going to happen. but either way, sorry to hear that happened. some people just dont have any respect.

Wow, that sucks dude. Sounds like you got there just in time before they stole your car. It doesn't seem like vandalism because they would have just broke all your windows and keyed your car if that was the case.

Where did you park? Was it a well lit parking lot or a parking garage? I tend to stay away from parking garages if I can for just this reason. If I do have to park in a garage, I try to park it near the elevators and stairs so there's hopefully people around more often than not.
