View Full Version : What is this xB look-a-like spotted in Bangkok Thailand?
Malibu_Rapper 02-12-2007, 10:13 PM What is this thing? My friend and I were in Bangkok in July and he told me he spotted a green xB there the other day. I told him they don't have xBs in Thailand and he sent me these pictures. The grill looks a lot like Coolbear but it's different. I never saw these anywhere else in Thailand.

butterfly0fdoom 02-13-2007, 03:49 AM I think the bB is actually smaller than the xB... anyone got specs on that.
mitchelltc1 02-13-2007, 03:53 AM awesome!
RTon20s 02-13-2007, 05:12 AM If Toyota had done a front end treatment like this, I would be ____ed that they didn't bring the new bB over.

As it is, I could care less for the new bB, or the new xB. Just picked up our second 1st gen. xB this last weekend.
OldYeller 02-13-2007, 06:12 AM Yeah--I think I would have liked the bB over the new xB...........
Cmec2004 02-13-2007, 10:35 AM thats sexy

Alchemist80 02-22-2007, 08:11 PM Ugo if you ask me....sorry!
jdmtoybb 03-19-2007, 07:47 AM technically the vehicle you saw in Thailand was a Daihatsu Coo.The 2nd gen Xbs are being built in the Daihatsu plant.Toyota owns 51% of Daihatsu.
roXor_boXor 03-19-2007, 11:35 AM Where do you see that the xB is built by Daihatsu? By the specs the xB and bB are clearly on two different platforms.
According to this page on Toyota's website the new bB is built by Daihatsu but the xB is built by Central Motor Co. (77% owned by Toyota).

I kept seeing speculation about sizes of the bB and xB so I did the research. Here is what I found so far.
2007 bB (from http://toyota.jp/bb/spec/spec/index.html )
Length 3785 mm (149 in)
Width 1690 mm (66.5 in)
Height 1635 mm (64.4 in)
Wheelbase 2540 mm (100 in)
Curb weight 2310 pounds
Turning Circle 32.1 ft (from the Daihatsu Materia specs)
2006 xB (From Scion.com)
Length 155.3 in (xB 6.3 inches longer than new bB)
Width 64.5 in (xB 2 inches narrower than bB)
Height 64.6 in (xB 0.2 inches taller than bB)
Wheelbase 98.4 in (xB 1.6 inches shorter than bB)
Curb weight 2415 (manual)(105 lbs heavier than bB)
Turning circle 36.1 ft
2008 xB (from Scion.com)
Length 167.3 in (18.3 inches longer than new bB)
Width 69.3 in (2.8 inches wider than bB)
Height 63 in (1.4 inches shorter than bB)
Wheelbase 102.4 in (2.4 inches longer than bB)
Curb Weight Unknown
Turning circle Unknown
Except for the overall lengths these are not earth shattering dimensional differences. As others have noted, the 2008 xB's extra length appears to mostly be in the front.
It would be interesting to see a picture of the three vehicles parked side by side.
rogcjms 03-19-2007, 09:29 PM ooooh im drooling over that pic that should have been the new xB

To RTon20s:
This is probably a stupid question, but is this a Photoshop or a real Kit? If a photoshop great job! If it's a kit there might still be hope for New Xb. I know that photo is a New Bb, but like someone stated earlier there not that much earth shattering difference between the two vehicles. Don't get me wrong I have gotten use to the look of New Xb and waiting any critical opinions until I see it in the Flesh and maybe with some sweet wheel package.
Tomas 03-20-2007, 09:44 PM The current JDM bB and the upcoming Scion xB2 are TOTALLY DIFFERENT, and there will be very
little interchangability of ANY parts (looks like fuses and licenseplates are about it...).
Here are some dimesional drawings comparing the original bB (our xB) and the current JDM bB:
http://tijil.org/bB_scale.gif
http://tijil.org/bB2_scale.gif
The 2008 xB2 is larger than either of those - and shaped like a van. :P
Tom
P.S. It is the current JDM bB that is being built at the Osaka Dihatsu plant, along with the Dihatsu COO, which is the same except for trim:

roXor_boXor 03-21-2007, 12:33 AM Much of that sounds vaguely familiar Tom.
Oh yeah now I see it. :D

This is an actual kit for the current bB put out by Garson. It is their D.A.D. kit. Don't hold your breath for anything even remotely close to this in the U.S. New owners are going to have to rely almost exclusively on USDM aftermarket companies for the new car. And I can't think of a single domestic body kit manufacturer who would design a similarly themed kit for the new xB.
dareaw 04-22-2007, 09:18 AM More Pic of the QNC Bb... After all the QNC is totally different shaped from the Bb NCP..
