I talked to a scion rep today and they said the floormats are covered under the basic scion warranty (3yrs/36,000mi). They told me just to take the drivers side back and they will replace it.

I wonder if they'll cover them if they've had holes punched for the floorplates? Hell, the reason I got the floorplates was cuz of the crappiness of the mats. (OK, they glow really awesome under the LEDs too. 8) )

yeah im gonna go try to get me a new one. And i will tell them that Scion corp told me this. I figured it was under warranty because I read somewhere that the Genuine Scion Accesories are covered under the scions basic warranty. So there will be a shortage of drivers side foormats :)

Are they just replacing the drivers side or giving you a whole new set?

Yeah the sad thing is the $120 floor mats are crap but the regular carpet it total ____.

It does however look like replacing the stock carpet would be fairly simple, I have looked around and no one is making them yet but hopefully someone will come out with a nice thick heavy duty one sooner or later.

I had the same thin indoor/outdoor carpet in an Amigo :(

Did they let you keep the messed up ones? It'd be nice to have fresh mats for shows and use the crappy ones for daily drive.

this is great news. i am sure more people will be taking advantage of this and scion will see the problem with them

Hey no you cant keep the original mats. Once they recieve the new ones, you have to swap out the old set. They will replace the whole set, no matter which one is worn.

Nice to know.

When I read about how $hitty the oem floor mats were I went to Wal-Mart and picked up those heavy duty black rubber mats. I should of not even bought the oem mats, but oh well.

Not that's a first.

They're actually cheap enough to buy :?

I paid $15 for the front pair at Wal-Mart. They are the heavy duty red-neck truck floor mats. The black goes nice with the interior as well

I received my new mats a couple days after I talked to my service advisor (this was last week). Still waiting on my rear cargo mat though.

New mats are 110% better than the old ones. I'm very happy with these mats so far. :)

do the new mats still say scion on them?

any one actually looked at the warrenty...exactly which part refers to the mats? Just figured I would have my guns locked and loaded when I go into the dealer.

Yep. "SCION" on the front two mats, nothing on the rears. I'm sure the cargo mat will still have the labeling as well.

My service guy gave me absolutely no problems at all. I just explained my wear issues and told him the people at Scion Corporate office told me to bring them in and I'd have them replaced under warranty. Didn't have to haggle, _____, complain, etc. ;)

UPDATE :x :

Went into the Toyota dealership to check on the status of my cargo mat. They failed to inform me they didn't order it. Why?

My service manager starts telling me that his warranty claims person is saying she hasn't recieved any TSB or recall info on the mats. I tell him (for the third time) that Scion Corporate contacted me about my comments in my new car satisfaction survey and told me to bring it in under warranty. He tells me floor mats aren't covered under the warranty. I then proceed to tell him this kind of wear starting at 3k miles is unacceptable...and that he and his warranty claims person need to figure this out...call Scion corporate or do whatever because, again, this is unacceptable.

I then have to explain to him AGAIN, for the third time, why I need a new rear cargo mat since it doesn't match the new floor mats he just gave me. I told him I needed this rear mat when I spoke to him the FIRST time...evidently he needs everything explained multiple times.

This is my first import, and so far I am quite dissatisfied in dealing with this dealership's service staff. I've explained the situation IN DETAIL three times and I think he still doesn't understand.

I've never had these problems with Ford...everything was fixed right the first time. No having to explain myself over and over. This is getting to be borderline rediculous. All this bull____ for mere floormats.

has anyone ACTUALLY received all of the mats yet? I was just about to go stomp all around on mine so i could take them in to get replaced, then i read the last 2 posts. any dealers wanna chime in on this?

Alan

Well I have my front four mats in the car, I just need to replace my existing cargo mat with a new one to match the fronts. My service guy had a hard time grasping that the old rear mat matched the old mats, and that the new mats look entirely different. I offered to show him the difference, but he declined to look.

are your matts the same black color/style or are they smooth carpet style and gray?

I had the first generation mats...sort of a checkerboard looking pattern to the carpet pile. I guess they were more of a black and charcoal kind of color.

These new ones are a more standard looking pile and more plush like "normal" floormats. Smooth and black. I love them, and I want a matching hatch mat durnit. :)

My mats look the same as the ones I got with my xB when I first bought it. People have been saying they look different? What is different? Is it because you have an 04 model? I have an 05. Let me know, I'm gonna look at my new mats and my cargo mat anyway, they look the same to me. Oh about the warranty, the parts guy didnt know what the warranty was on them but some lady that worked there told me and the parts guy 3yrs/36,000. All scion accessories are under warranty. It says it in the brochures somewhere and they told me at my dealership too.

if your matts have a coarse feel when you rub them......then it's the 1st. gen. matts. if they feel smooth ,then it's the new 2nd. gen. matts. also my 1st. matts where dk.black ...these are dk.gray color. they look better to me.

Still no word from the dealership on the status of my hatch mat. I have a strange feeling the service person did jack ____, I just don't have the time to babysit him. So far I am completely dissatisfied with my Toyota service experience. I am not looking forward to resolving serious/warranty issues at a Toyota dealership because I fear the same lackluster customer service.

you know, for warranty repairs, especially for something like factory floor mats, you can go do any dealership you damn well please

not trying to be harsh here or anything, but I'd ask around online and in person and with any nice person at your dealer to recommend another scion/toyota dealership or look up reviews online in your area and go there, you aren't gridlocked into going back to the same dealer you got your car from, even though it'd be on the more specific level of "I bought it from you, you're liable" sort of thing

just please don't vent about a certain dealership when you have freedom.... it's like screaming and hollaring to take off those tight shackles because the key's in the other hand

P.S.: "Toyota" dealerships are car dealerships, go to a scion dealership or to a specific dealership that idolizes customer service, I go to Fitzgerald Scion of Gaithersburg, MD and I swear, if I was treated any better I'd get a pedicure with my complimentary oil changes for life (not a typo)

but once I left the Scion lot and signed those papers and got mauled by the "Toyota" financial department, and "preventive maintenance advisor" it was like I'd just STOLEN that car and getting put through my interrogation

EDIT - forgot to mention, all scion accessories are covered under the standard bumper to bumper warranty, and if you have 3000 miles on your car, they better replace every piece of the car you tell them to....

RIPPED FROM http://www.scion.com/drive/warranty/drive_tc_warranty.html

Genuine Scion Accessories:
Warranty coverage is for 12 months, regardless of mileage, with the exception of car covers, which are warranted for 12 months only. If the part or accessory is installed during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period, coverage is for the 12 months or the remainder of the applicable warranty coverage.

I thought the standard bumper-to-bumper warranty was the 3/36? The accessory warranty is 12 months?

I might have to go back and get some new mats myself. Are they replacing them with the 2005 mats? How are they holding up?

I bought my mats OEM, and they came pretty damn quickly. If you're having any problems getting yours through the dealership, you may want to save yourself some money (and hastle) and just order 'em from Brandsport.com (http://www.brandsport.com/scion1.html)
