Does installing the front plate require holes being drilled through the bumper? Here in CA lacking a front plate results in a ticket.

yes it does, unless you can customize a bracket... I ordered my tc and told the dealer not to drill holes in them to put the lic frame... there is a 2 dents of where your suppose to put the plates in so it will be centered...

Don't worry about having a front license plate in Cali. I've never had one in any of my cars [i've been driving for 18 years] and the pi.. I mean, the police have never hassled me about it.

ya i say screw the front license plate... until the cop sees that you have to holes in your front bumper and maks you put it on....

Mine doesn't have any holes and the dealer didn't offer to make any. I'd rather just forget the front plate but I got pulled over before in Hollywood, California. I ended up getting a ticket for "open container" when they found a champagne bottle under the seat. It had been there for months and was bone dry! Typical LA cops out making friends in the community!

Longo Scion drilled holes in my bumper to mount the front license plate. I decided to take it off, but I kept the screws there so the holes wouldn't show as bad. I didn't know you could ask the dealers not to drill holes. When I got the car, the plates were already in.

I've been driving my car ever since I got it (a little over a month now) and I've never had any trouble with the law. Cops drive by and see that I don't have a plate and they don't say anything about it.

I'm going to keep it off until I get in trouble for it.

The dealership here in Texas punched two holes in my bumper for a front plate not realizing I was going to register my tC in Florida where they don't require one. Any ideas on how to patch the holes...if it's even possible?

build your own bracket to hold the lisence plate... that's what I did for my xB. I'm in WA and I transfer to Va in 2 months... I'm military and my home state is FL, so when I get back to the east coast I'll regester in FL and take off the bracket... no ugly holes... although I might use the bracket to mount my old japanese plate on the front... 8)

Not to go off topic but this is the perfect time to ask this question. Does it cost you anything to have your car transfered? Does the military cover the cost or do you just drive it to your next station area? Thanks for any help.

military people only pay 30 dollars to register if you claim to be a resident of another state my dad has been doing it for like 17 years even though we own a house and been living here since 86

We are military and the only thing we have to pay for is a small doc. fee for the transfer of tags from the car I sold to the tC. There are all kinds of forms to fill out though (at least there was for FL) to prove you are a resident of that state and that you are military. But I guess it varies from state to state.

Thats nice to also know. I was asking if you as the military member had to pay any thing to have your car shiped to your new station? or is all that covered by uncle sam?

Woops! Sorry I read that wrong. Unless its overseas, you cannot ship a car and have the military pay for it. Sucks, I know.

iI got my flnt mca w/ the frnt plate on, i removed it this morning till i get my plates in the mail. igot two fixit tickits in my civic for no front plate here in san diego but its a ten dollor fee an u gota get the ticket signed off bit of a hassle but u gotta watch out u dont want to get pulled for no plate and get caught for drinkin or smokin or something else but the frnt plte does look bfugly and most dealers in cali will have it installe prior to u ever seeing the car cuz of laws. i just got my tc a wk/n 1/2 ago and asked bout the frnt plate so good luck.
