Yes, I have done a search, but I didn't find any information about the XA and using the 17 inch wheels such as the ones that will be coming with the RS1 package.

Will they be o.k. in snow? I live in Wisconsin and I really wanted just the plain Jane tires that come stock. Now I find were getting some other fancy wheels/tires.

Also a person I know in another state claims her dealer is going to swap wheels/tires with another car and charge her the original package price of $1400. Her dealer hasn't gotten the car yet, so I don't know if it will pan out, but can they do that?

Does anyone know a link where I can see what these new wheels/tires look like? I'm a 34 year old with a couple of special needs kids, I don't need those cool wheels. Ugh. I still want the car though. If I have to get them, I will. Just don't have extra cash to buy "winter tires".
Thanks for the help from an ignorant auto buyer.

:( Most 17" Tires are only a summer tire. Also when in the snow you dont wont a big fat 205 size tire to plow through it. Most rally cars that race in snow stick to skinny tires becuase they cut through the snow better then a large tire. In your case I would say when you get the car, see if some one would buy your wheels / trade stock + give you some cash seeing the new ones would be worth a lot more then the stock. I will see if I can get a pick of the wheel & some info on the tires.

Edit: Here is some info about the tire on tirerack. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Avid+H4S Cant find any thing on the wheel though.

thats why its always good to stick with stock rims wraped in snow tires for winter. When spring, winter, fall comes around switch back to your other rims :)

I was under the impression that the RS1 package xA comes with hubcaps like anyother xA, and the 18" TRD wheels are optional....

Nope... i own RS 1.0 #865, and it comes with 17" wheels as part of the package. I'm seriously considering getting some wheels/tires that will fit more with the Iowa snow -- do i need new wheels? or will new tires fit in there? God i hate being so stupid about this stuff...

thanks...

if you are an enthusiast of your RS, like I am, I definitely recommend getting winter tires. Most winter tire packages come with basic steel wheels, which is what I'm going to get. These 17" wheels that we have on our RS are very nice, and so are the tires. I highly highly reccommend that you get a set of winter tires with some crappy rims and store your current enkei rims and yoko tires until after winter. otherwise you will ruin an excellent investment, take my word for it. :D

for winter tires I go with dunlop. Any winter tire is good, I go for something cheap.

Thank you SO much for the advice.... I was kinda thinking I should go ahead and get decent winter wheels/tires... but i suppose i was waiting for someone to confirm before i put down the cash.

Any recommendations for wheels? I'm good w/ tires... i've bought those before... but wheels??

thanks,

yes get some cheap steelies for a few months, its better than the alternative and driving on 17's in the snow would not be a good thing...
