Default Stock Pioneer Deck + Subwoofer?

Thinking about getting one of those cheap powered subs, like a bazooka tube or whatever. I already replaced the door speakers with some nice Sony Xplods. Can't get any bass in the door speakers though because the door panels are designed so poorly they rattle like crazy (need to get some rubber gaskets or something and fix it). If anyone on here has fixed the buzz, let me know what you did, it would be appreciated...

My Question(s):
- Does the stock Pioneer deck in the Xa have the RCA jacks on the back so you can run an amp/sub?

- If not, is there a way to run a sub and keep all 4 door speakers? (I get the impression you lose the back door speakers if you use a line converter?)

Any help would be appreciated!

lineout converter

you retain all the factory speakers. the LOC only taps the speaker wires... not cuts them.

Thanks Neothin, I wasn't sure about that. I've always had a deck that has the sub-woofer out RCA jacks. Never had to go this route before...

i just installed my audio system and i had to use a LOC. I took out the stock speakers up front and put in eDi6500S's and left the rears to run off the HU. Works just great.

Really? Those stock speakers were so THIN sounding, and even with the bass turned all the way up you can barely hear it. And if you do that, if you turn the volume past 40 the doors rattle so bad (where the armrest meets the panel) it is intolerable. There is virtually zero bass from the speakers that were stock in my Xa. Even my new speakers provide just a little bit of bass.

I don't listen to rap or antying like that. I'm a rock guy, but I still like a little bass at least... I like to hear the kickdrum and the bass guitar from time to time....

I honestly listen to the broad spectrum of music... hip hip, techno, rock, classical.... and I have to say either your speakers were bad to begin with or maybe with the 06's the speakers got better... not a clue here... but my xA seems to put out some pretty decent bass and this is coming from a bass-head of old....

Hmmm, maybe there was a problem with them from the beginning. My new speakers sound way better though. I just want a little extra. I haven't had a car without a subwoofer in 10 years, maybe my judgement is tainted by that... My Xa is also an '06...

^^^^Well the thats why. Once you've had a subwoofer in your car I'm sure it would hard to not have one. You're just spoiled haha j/k.

I am gonna have my sub installed by a pro this time... I did such a crummy job of wiring last time I did it...lol...

They are going to hook me up with a sub level ****... which should help with the sub being overpowering...

But as for not having a sub... I had one since I got my first car, and this is the first w/o and I must say that the stock speakers are quite amazing compared to the crap I have dealt with in the past... they nearly surpass some quality aftermarkets I have owned as well....

They looked quality (I kept the old ones when they put the new ones in). The magnets were large, the cone design looked sound, good looking voice coil, etc. I was actually impressed by how they looked, they even had Pioneer branding.

However, as good as they are for stock, the Sony's were better, and for a minimal fee it was worth the upgrade. They are louder, and since they are 2-way, they have really crisp mids/highs even at high volumes. They get a tad more bass too than the stocks.

For me, I have to "feel" the music, not just hear it. Too much bass on those stock speakers and they sounded overwhelmed to me, made strange "compression" sounds. My new speaks don't do that...

The doors still buzz horribly though. Where that armrest meets the door panel there is no gasketing, and imo its a horrible design. I am going to have to take these doors apart and come up with a solution, because it (the buzzing whenever bass kicks in) drives me crazy!

u might want to check ur settings through the Pioneer stock deck, mine was set for the TC settings by default i think....but after i set it for the xA, it was definately an improvement....you should be able to choose three settings, one for each model car since our speakers are set differently

Where is this setting? I have went through all the controls and I don't see any option for tc, xa, etc? I'll try anything to make it sound better...

just hold the SSP button in until you hear a beep, and then use the volume + and - buttons to change from xA to xB to Tc

I noticed my bass was pretty weak when I picked up my car. I did the SSP trick and found out it was set to tC. When I set it to xA I was pretty surprised how much better it sounded. The bass was tolerable, and much more punchy. I still want to get a dedicated sub at some point, though.

eD's sq10 + box combo should fit under the xA seat nicely.
