Default help with stock HU, want to add aftermarket sub(s)

guys, i tried searching, but came up with like 20 pages of hits... what do i need to do to add a sub to my current setup. I want to keep the stock head unit, and speakers, and just add 1 10" sub. Is there a particular cable I need to use?

I guess what I mean is, how would they of hooked up the other bazooka sub (factory)?? I want to do the same thing, but not use their sub.

I have a amp, and the wires and all, but before i get started, I figured id try to collect a little more info.

and before someone yells "search" I tried that, see how many hits you get that dont cover what im talkin about!

Thanks in advance!!

get a lineout converter. tap the stock speakers and it'll output an RCA cable connection.

that's what i did to hook up my 2 amps to my stock HU.

As an alternative to the LOCs already mentioned, you could get an amp that has speaker-level inputs, and simple connect in paralell with the stock speakers. REM can be taken from many places, and wire that has +12v when key is in acc position will work, such as the cigarette lighter wire, which is really easy to get to.

Neothin is right, get a lineout converter, tap the rear speaker, and plug the RCA's right into the amp

I have one of those for sale, if you're interested. Bought it from Alpman @ yoursciontc but I ended up getting an Eclipse HU so I never used it. $25 shipped, save $10.

I think that depends more on your amp, but the plug'n'play LOC also has the handy remote amp wire, saving you the trouble of tapping that elsewhere.
