Hello,
Not looking to do some crazy street racing or anything but wondering if a Manual tC would run me a few times a variable speeds. Stock or Intake/Exhaust fine. Only reason is because I beat a B16(w/mods) a few times and he says he woops on Manual tC's all the time so I just wanted to see what was faster.
If you dont agree or feel negative about this thread, please keep your comments to yourself.
Thanks.

ok.ok. I would like to race a 5-speed(manual transmission) tC. I would like this "manual transmission" to be stock or close to it(no more than intake/exhaust).

Lets see..the reason why u are beating a "B16" is cuz 1) tC's have torque and 2) mostly reason.........he/she is a ricer and can't race for ish.
Is this B16 car a civic, tegy, or prelude? I'm pretty sure the driver is the main cause of why he/she is losing to a tC. Tires come next and a poorly tuned car is last....maybe engine life.

I dont know about beating the new SI's :eyebrow: but the numbers will say that Honda's still have the power advantage.
197-hp, 2.0-Liter, DOHC i-VTEC® 4-Cylinder Engine
2.0-liter, dual-overhead camshaft K20Z3 engine in the Civic Si produces 197 horsepower at 7800 rpm and 139 lb.-ft. of torque at 6100 rpm.

The guy I raced was totally legit and a really cool guy. He has a 00 civic coupe, B16A w/ a short ram intake, Old school JDM DC header(dont debate this unless you know what it is), upgraded piping & a Vtec controller (SAFC I). Not to mention he also did the 5 lug swap with the Type R w/ Falken Azenis ST's and was on springs. We did about 12 rounds and I won 10. We both got out afterwards (being I used to own a ITR) we talked Honda. Guy new his stuff and said he dusted all his friends tC's. He gave me a ride, he did miss a shift or two at times but his car should have done the trick atleast a few times out of the 12(which probably counts for the 2 he did win).

B16's are known to have very low torque. I know, my cousin has one, SI. If it was a B18, like that from a tegy gsr or type-r, then it would be a different story. So ya, tC did smoke this civic and it was all due to torque.

ill race you, im bone stock. its an 07 tho, but it dosent matter rite?
im in diamond bar/brea/pomona/walnut.. wherever you want to meet, but it would have to be somewhere seclududed.
also, you better watch out, ive been workin on my launches haha.
also, referring to the new civic Si, a tC can take it from the getgo up to about 40-50mph, after that they start to pull on us and then kick the shiot out of us, anyone who disagrees, post a vid and thats the only way i will believe, even then i will still question the integrity of it.
either way, if you want to race, let me know.

I don't approve of street racing, but this is a nice challenge. SL holds no responsibility on this, alright. Cool.
ya, Si 06-07 can fly by after that speed........hence V-tec baby, lol. Vtt-i is only good for a couple of rpms. V-tec, however, lasts a long time.

the new si only have 140 some torque as opposed to us tcs who are stok wit 160 so we have the advantage on them and plus were not far behind on hp and im not saying i beat them all i jus raced a few and i smashed on them so all im going on is what ive done so far and ive only had my car a few months

You guys are silly making such a big deal about torque. HP is a function of torque. Torque is a momentary measurement; hp is a measurement over time. . . which is why it is used to judge acceleration.
Torque is like the amount of weight a body builder can lift. HP would be the amount of time it takes to move it.
We're not towing boats people, we are accelerating cars.
Now if you want to compare powerbands, then you might have a valid claim. Race cars (like F1) don't make squat for torque, but they make tons of HP at high RPM's (high HP is usually created at high RPM's). Gears are those nifty little things that turn that HP into practical power. You can pretty much created as much torque as you wanted with the proper gear set and enough HP. That's why you can undo a tough bolt with a longer wrench (you use a lever arm, or gear, to utilize HP (work over time/distance) to create torque).
Don't get me wrong, torque is good. But you guys seem like the tC's good torque numbers make it the fastest car in the world. Especially considering our low revving engines, I' gladly take a 30hp bump over a 30ft/lb bump.
Also note, there is a REASON why gears are supposed to shift shortly after peak HP (to maximize the peak HP band) than the peak torque band.
