I'm absolutely dumbfounded after looking at one of these at Radioshack. The guy told me that he had none that could split the signal from a 12v source to two 12v sources, which is what i'm trying to do to power on my new Nine.2X
What do I need to know when I go looking around for one of these?
I need it to split my head unit's remote wire. Thanks for any help!

Well.. be careful about radio crack.. they know almost nil as far as electronics are concerned. I know they used to sell a double pole, single throw relay with two sets of Normally Open contacts. So basically you are flipping two switches when you energize the relay. Simply run your 12V power to one side of one of the Normally open contacts, then jumper it to the same side of the other normally open contact. Then you have 12V in and 2 12V feeds out. It doesnt matter which side of the contacts is in and out, but I prefer to keep all inputs on one side and all outputs on the other to keep things simple.

To simplify, you need a relay with one coil that has at least two sets of normally open contacts.
What current rating do you need? I can probably find you some options and give you the link.

To be honest, I have no idea. It's a remote lead off a head unit, so it's probably going to be around 1 amp.

Also, if running the wire from amp #1 to #2 would happen to work, would there be any electrical risk at all?
