Default injen short ram for xa

does anyone have experience with the injen short ram intake for the xa? how does it feel and sound?

any feedback will be much appreciated. i am considering the injen short with a heat shield instead of the cold air because i don't like all those bends, plus it's, uh, cheaper.

any feed back about experience with other intakes for the xa is welcome also! please!

I'm not sure...but I believe subcode had his CAI in "shortram" mode for a couple of days. axronline.com has the shortram injen for like 130+shipping... I saw it earlier and was like "oly chit!" I wonder if you can buy the extra piping from injen later down the line...

From what I have seen they say the CAI is a kit & the extra pipe is not sold seperate.

I dunno on an xA and xB the CAI has so many bends and is so long I doubt you really get any good power out of it. A tube that long on a small engine is going to have to suck a lot to get the cold air out of it. Seems like a short ram would be just as good, and a heat sheild sounds good to.

Yeah thats a good point. I dont have a xA yet but what keeps them from just darting a pipe a little out for the tb then make it go straight down? Why do they have it bend back like they do, it does not make sense to me.

I heard that they did that so it makes it harder for the engine to suck in water because the bypass valve can only do so much. And considering how low the CAI hangs and the fact you can buy it from the dealership and maintain warranty leads me to believe this is probably true, just Toyotas way of solving potential hydrolocking problems.

Thats some good points. I thought you could only buy the AEM CAI from the dealers?
