MurphysLaw 02-27-2007, 08:55 AM The GP looks pretty cool....I wouldn't do it...but thats just me
Easyoboe2 02-27-2007, 10:35 AM I have a Maxi Mini Cooper. It's known as an xB. Too bad they don't make an xBs.
outrage36862 02-27-2007, 11:43 AM I think the mini cooper is bad a$$ and if I wasn't as tall as I am. I would have probabley gotten one of them. The first time I seen a xb though I had2 have one.
MrRadi8 02-27-2007, 11:48 AM Sister-in-law has an automatic non-S. Still fun as hell to drive and love the sunroof.
However, the rear seat is for small children or crap. Nothing like the xB.
They are two different animals. Go drive one and see what you think. I've considered getting a manual just for the hell of it but the practical side of me knows I need the rear seat room.
Spiderbox 02-27-2007, 11:48 AM mini is sweet but the only thing that kept me from getting one was that to really change the way it looks. ie aftermarket body parts.
Alchemist80 02-27-2007, 12:07 PM I parked next to one in a parking lot and it made my xB look like an SUV. Those things are tiny. They do look cool as hell though.
jbrolowxb 02-27-2007, 12:39 PM I've always been a fan of the cooper, I just don't like the lack of room in the backseat. I would love to have one.
YourNameHere 02-27-2007, 01:00 PM they have a GP at the local BMW dealer...such a hot car. i would deff pick one up if i had the means.
kustom_play 02-27-2007, 01:51 PM i would but i wanted the S and didnt have the money for one
there amazing cars, i say go for it!
but get an S, trust me its a bit more but so worth it
MadMike550 02-27-2007, 03:58 PM the Mini and the Xb
I test drove them both before deciding on the xB..
for the money..the xB made a lot more sense
javastan 02-27-2007, 04:54 PM They are cool cars, but I have heard a lot of negs from owners. I know three people who have owned or own one. All of them will never buy one again. They don't have the best track record when it comes to reliability. Shouldn't be a supprise they are made in England.
Random311 02-27-2007, 05:05 PM The MC's are cool but WAYYY overpriced.
YourNameHere 02-27-2007, 05:07 PM yea...30k is alot of money for that car. maybe of the cooper was 15k (rabbit) the S was 20k (gti) and the gp was 23-25
vintage42 02-27-2007, 07:28 PM I rode in the front and the back of a friend's Mini S before buying my xB. The S is very fast and mid-$20Ks, while the regular Mini has about the same specs as the xB and is about $20K. But I am 6'-2 with a stiff back, and the Minis are just too hard to get into. After I had gotten in, there was enough room in the front, but not in the back. Too expensive and cramped compared to the xB.
ezzyB 02-27-2007, 07:54 PM I've been wanting one for a while. Before I bought the B, I had a horrible Beetle. I shopped between the Mini and the Beetle. I went ahead and chose the Beetle because of the backseat room, but in hindsight, which is always clearer, the Mini would have been a better choice.
If my hubby and I decide to not have kids, I'm getting an S, they are hot.
XbbbbBox 02-27-2007, 08:49 PM Mini's are cool. I have had the same thought. However much less room than XB though. Service repairs are more$$ and their repair record is not as great as the XB.
They just came out with new model - styling has been updated - looks even cooler.
They are coming out with a "wagon' version - but I believe it is about a year or so away!

I looked under the hood of my friends Mini S and it was scary. I have never seen such a tiny and jam-packed engine compartment. I think I was looking at a turbo and intercooler. I don't see how an owner can touch anything under there.
And there was no space at all between the engine and the front, so a minor bump could do a lot of mechanical damage.
The nearest Mini dealer to Louisville is on the far side of Cincinnati, about 125 miles away. People take their cars up there for the first oil change at 10,000 miles (synthetic). If a car has any problem where it should not make the trip to the dealer, the dealer sends a truck to Louisville and hauls the car back to Cincinnati.

yeah thats what ive been reading in reviews. they look so dope though. i guess im just gonna stick with my box.
DriverXa 02-28-2007, 04:26 AM are scions becoming starter cars for minis? i bought my xa off a bmw/mini lot, previous owner traded the car in with 3800 miles on the clock for a cooper s.

PezRadar 03-01-2007, 02:54 AM I own a 2007 MINI Cooper S.. Just picked it up last week.
People tend to think MINI's are way way expensive, but they arent so bad.
Regular Coopers start at 18,000ish
Cooper S starts at 22.5ish
The car has one of the best resale ratings on the marketing.. usually 2nd after either the Prius or the Porsche 911.
Cooper S is really fast though, faster then a tC with a TRD SC.
The new Cooper S comes with a Turbo engine, they went away with the Supercharger, and its quieter and more comfortable to ride in. It does have a sport button which raises throttle response and tightens steering.
It has insane torque for such a small light car.. 177lbs @ 1500-5000 rpm, and 192lbs overboost when you floor it.
I love my car best purchase ever!
Also the MINI community is really close knit.. you always wave at eachother whenever you pass by its great =]

I was just amazed when given a ride in friend's S a year ago. I had not been pressed back in the seat so hard since the muscle cars and vettes that my college friends had in the old days.
Pinay_tC 03-03-2007, 10:54 PM My dad has Mini Cooper S... that car!! Soooooo much fun to drive! Looks like they changed the interior a bit on the '07... his is an '05.
I agree the Mini is small, not much room for anything... hence the name 'Mini' ....but I don't think we should be comparing it to the xB. They are completely different cars altogether...
I say take one for a test drive and then decide.... I personally wouldn't buy one myself, I just steal my dads occasionally for the fun of driving it!
PezRadar 03-04-2007, 05:16 PM Yep 07's were a redesign exterior and interior.. Not one body panel is the same in the 07's compared to the 06's..
Its a new engine too no more Chrysler Engine, its now a BMW/Pguegot engine thats turbocharged instead of supercharged.
Vintage42: Make sure to try out the new 07's :) The torque figures I posted are much higher then the 06's :o
