I got a speeding ticket in 1986. Only ticket I've ever received other than a taillight out and expired tags in my parents car.

I'm not that reckless anymore. The xB is faster than the s10 but my driving has settled way down now that I got the fear of god in me...and the fear of paying a lawyer $1000 to keep me out of jail haha

I can't wait until I turn 25 and my 6 points go away so my insurance prices will be normal again and I get get something fast. the worst thing about it all: USAA considers the xB to be a "sport wagon" ...that doesn't help things lol.

i have not had any speeding tickets since i had my Scion since i don't really speed, i try to stay within 5 mi. over the posted limit.

Reason for doing the speed limit though is because before I got my Scion I had a Chevy Beretta which I got a criminal speeding ticket for doing 68 in a 45 and a another speeding ticket for 43 in a 35. Both tickets were within a month of each other and both were un intentional.

I know you're going to say "every ticket is un intentional" but here's the story...........The criminal ticket was for when me and my friend were up on our way up to snow bowl to go snowboarding. We were driving through a small town on the way up where the limit was down to 45 and i was telling my friend they watch for people speeding so you always watch your speed. i thought i was out of the town and the speed limit was back up to 65 so i was doing 68, thinking i was doing within the speed limit. Got pulled over and when i got back on the road i found the sign for 65 MPH was only about 200 ft away around the bend.

The other ticket is when i was taking my mom to work and in an area i wasn't normally familiar with. I though it was a 45 MPH area so i was doing 48 thinking i was within the limit, turned out i was in a school zone that i didnt notice the sign for and got busted for 13 over.

I went to court for the school zone one and lost. But you can see how on both i believed i was doing the speed limit but actually wasn't paying enough attention and got busted. I've had only 2 points left on my license to lose since then so i haven't risked losing them. Those points fell off my license this month but i still enjoy doing the speed limit, i like not having to worry about checking my mirrors for POPO and stuff, i just cruize and give my self time to get to where I'm going.

Moved to off topic - ;-)

shoot I got 3, no excuses I just tend to speed. One of them was pretty dumb tho. i was driving to Kansas for the Big XII football game. it was like 70 and I was going 80 it then dropped to 60 for a work zone and a cop was sitting at the start of this speed trap. got a ticket for 20 over in a work zone $250. that is actually cheap compared to Oklahoma it would have been about $400 here. I think im going to buy a radar detector soon.

2.

1- 35mph in a 25, pulled over by campus police... lame.

2 - 45mph in a 35, coming down a hill so I was gradually picking up speed haha IDK.

No excuses my scion is a freaking rocket ship haha. I even had one cop tell me he didn't think it was possible to spin the tires in "one of those things" haha.

I got one about two months after getting the tC. It was 2am when I got pulled over. He said I was doing 65 in 45. I said I'm new here and from Los Angeles, and thought all highways were 55. He laughed and said that it will be reckless driving if he gave it to me for 20 over. I got a ticket for 15 over, $122.

yeah, my tc is way faster than my old explorer was, but i still drove atleast 10 over the speed limit everywhere and only got 1 ticket in it because it was so low profile. the tc has considerably more "look @ me!" styling so i have gotten like...more than 5 less than 10 speeding tickets.

i also got one for "careless driving" from a stupid jerk down in florida. i came to a stop, couldn't see past the bushes and stuff on the corners of the intersection, so i slowly pulled forward, saw i was clear, and made my left turn. came up on a civic dragging but down the road, and since i was still getting used to the tc, i was practicing downshifting to slow down and speed up. then i see some red and blue lights behind me. there was a cop in an impala (this was in florida, i'm used to crown vic headlights). he says that i didn't come to a complete stop at the sign because all he saw was me slowly pulling out after my complete stop, and that i was driving aggressively because i wasn't using my brakes. total dick.

oh boy...so officially I've received 1...but I've also receieved 3 additional written warnings.

1st weekend I had the car a rivel ex-roommate felt the need to prove something with his 01 Prelude type SH. ...needless to say I wasn't willing to let myself get cut off...so we were pulled over doing about 75 in a 25.

Cop was suprisingly cool (or so upset he just wanted us out of his sight)

as he approached my window...having my keys on the dash car off and ready to get out and be arrested I heard "SLOW THE F*** DOWN!"

And if he's out there reading this....Thank You. Moments of imaturity can be a learning experience.

No tickets yet.. but when I was driving back to Washington from Mississippi almost a year ago, I was going through Nebraska.. I was doing 80 or 85 in a 70.. something like that. I saw a cop on the other side of the highway.. realized I was going kinda fast, slowed down, but saw her do a quick u-turn through the grass "median". So I passed this semi I was next to and got in front, slowed down.. she got closer, pulled me over. I told her I was just passing the semi and she said even if you're passing, you shouldn't have to go over the speed limit. I sat in her car (scary).. then she couldn't find her book or something, turns out it fell on the ground, so I got it for her.. so I think she appreciated that.. we talked a little (she had it recording too, ew) and I explained why we were there and stuff like that.. she wrote a warning and let us go. It doesn't matter anyway because when am I gonna be back in Nebraska, right? :P

Then.. more recently.. it was sometime late last year, I was behind this guy who was going 40 in a 55.. so I waited for a passing zone and I passed him. I knew there was a cop ahead of him, but it was a ways. So I passed him, and was going just a bit too fast because I caught up to the cop (though slowed down as I approached him).. so he pulled off to the right and then as soon as I got by him he got behind me, waited a few, then turned his lights on and pulled me over. He asked if I knew what he pulled me over for, and I said no. He said I passed in a no passing. Wrong. I'm scared sh*tless to pass in a no passing! I told him where I passed the guy and he seemed disappointed and asked if I knew how fast I was going. I said, somewhat as a question, "50?" He said he was going 55 and I caught up to him. I said oh, well I was going 50 just now. He said he knows how hard it is to drive on that road and to slow down.. have a good night. :P No ticket, warning, nothing. So... yeah. That's me and my xA. :)

But since I got pulled over last I've changed my driving habits and I'm generally a much nicer driver. :) I have my occasional 10 over moments, but usually only when there is a lot of traffic with me and they are doing the same. :P

You don't want to come up to Washington then. Here there are 3 different departments patrolling, local PD, Sheriff's, and Staters. The State Troopers have unmarked Impalas in white, black, silver, and gold. Unmarked SUVs, green and white Suburbans. I have seen 1 unmarked maroon Crown Vic. There is also a gray blacked out 2006 Dodge Charger. I've even seen the Game Wardens, who have full police powers, doing traffic stops on the highway in their unmarked F150s!

claudia probably flirts her way outta tickets with moco's finest, which is common for some girls who know how to, but thats okay, if i'm in my work uniform, police let me off with a warning. once i did 80 through a 40 down 108 between olney mill and 97 on a sunday morning, a cop saw me go by and took off after and finially caught up to me by georgia ave, pulled me over. asked where i was going, told him to work, showed the logo on my shirt. he said, "well, you guys take good care of us, and i don't really know how fast you were going, just take it easy and get there in one piece." i was like, sweet! bye, stay safe and so on.

when i am flying down the interstate, i have a pretty good screening process.
1. american made sedans, suvs, and 4 door pick-ups (cops don't like perps riding shotgun)
2. bland colors, black, white, grey, dark red, brown, blue or green etc. they won't use attention grabbing colors, kinda defeats the point of the unmarked unit.
3. search for auxilary antennas
4. cheap steel rims with or without wheel covers, should have a center hub that looks like an ash tray
5. check for in-state plates (obviously out of state plates aren't undercover cops)
6. check for some kind of personalization (cops don't personalize their patrol vehicles, check for bumper stickers, those stupid "i support whatevers trendy" ribbons, stuffed animals etc)
7. check for passengers (alot of unmarked cop cars are the same ones rental fleets use)
8. check driver (cops usually have to be clean cut, shaved, short hair, they usually have sunglasses)
9. most cops drive with their headlights or daytime running lights on
10. cops use crown vics, not grand marq's, learn the subtle differences.
11. look for the inside blue and red lights if possible.
12. watch you six, their headlights go from just on the horizon to on your tail in a heartbeat, if you know how to recognize crown vic headlights, and you see them coming on your rear fast, just get outta their way.
13. speed on straighaways where you can clearly see the entire median and shoulder, not obstructed by signs, hills. don't speed around curves and bends.

hope that helps, i spend waaaaayyyy too much time on the interstate at illegal speeds.

But I figure for all the times that I do speed, which is all the time, and all the times I have been pulled over and given a warning, when I do get a ticket I'm pretty much do for one.

The first ticket I ever got was for doing 50 in 35. I could have contested it except he didn't give me a fine when I flicked my cig butt out the window right in front of him, without thinking. He gave me the unsafe speed ticket, and said my ticket would be alot if I got a littering fine. But he let me go on my way cuz I told him I was taking Administration of Justice (Police Science) classes and was late. I was even more late for class, but have never littered since.
