well im looking into buying the pre loaded ed stealth setup and i was wondering since i have no clue on how to install any audio equipment for my car, would it be possible to get it install at like mobile one or something? also can anyone tell me what amp would be good for this set up, keep in mine money is a little tight for me.

try a local sound shop... there's gotta be plenty down there.

Use mandos's gutting guide and do it yourself. It's easy, especially a sub.

yeah im not that good with audio stuff either. but if your getting the loaded SQ10 you should be fine with a nine.2 from ED and just use 8 guage wire and you should be fine. I plan on doing the same thing this spring or summer

If you want to learn and feel comfortable with doing basic maintenance on your car, then give it a shot yourself. If you really have no idea and aren't comfortable trying it yourself, then investigate your local shops (talk to them, check the install bay, listen to their demo cars, get customer opinions, etc.) and find one that's right for you.

Yeah Mobile One should do it. Its just like installing a regular amp and enclosure. Just make sure that you go to one of the good Mobile One's. Ive seen some shady looking ones on the southside.

Guide to gutting. With this guide it's the easiest thing to do. Just keep track of the small stuff (and remember that the front seat bolts are different from the rear. D'oh!)

Out of curiousity, where are you planning on mounting the amp?

i was planning to mount it where the spare tire is...like cut out a wood piece so the amp can sit on it

also what would be a good head unit to replace the stock one to give the bass and sound better quality and loudness?

Kenwood, Alpine, higher end Pioneer, Elcipse.... ummm... lots to choose from... I usually get my HU's from eBay and can find decent / good ones for about $200...

I just got the last piece of my new setup which includes the sq10 stealth loaded. I haven't hooked it up yet - so I've no clue as to sound quality yet, but I just want to vent some minor frustrations.

1. I ordered it loaded thinking the speaker would be wired and mounted in the box already. There were no pilot holes, not even any screws. I have to go get screws, drill pilot holes for the speaker and run the wire. Not a big deal, I realize - 20 cents at home depot and a foot of wire... but still. This kind of custom level shop, I kind of had glorious expectations of the fedex dude strolling in out of blinding light like god had picked him to deliver this holy 'loaded' element design box.

2. There was no heavenly light the first or second time. The 'loaded' box came not just in two different boxes, but on different days entirely. So I'm sitting here with my sq10 wishing I could do something about it... but can only stare at it 'til the next day when my box arrives. Again, not a big deal... but still.

I think my irritation spawns entirely from the word 'loaded'. What 'loaded' implies to me is I'm going to get one shipment with the speaker wired and mounted in the box. All I have to do when I get it is put it in the trunk and hook up the wires from the amp. After all, the installation time on the site is 30 seconds. Honestly, now it's about 5 minutes. Woop tee doo, I know... but still... 'loaded'. Maybe they should call it "eD Scion tC Side Mount SQ 10 Enclosure - Package deal" -- that would imply that if I buy both, I get the lower price -- which is really all I got different than if I had ordered the two separately.

Now maybe I'm just being a diiick because it's 4pm on Wednesday, I'm ready to go home, and I've still half a work week staring back at me.

Just had to throw that out there... I don't mean to bash ED or anything... and likely, tonight or tomorrow after I hook it all up, I'll completely rebuke this entire post with a million apologies and profound admiration for the quality of sound, great design, and ease of installation.

We toyed with the idea of shipping them in the box, but then if FedEx/UPS decided to play box football, well...yeah, no claims on the sub.

I've updated the name to unloaded and package. I'll work out the descriptions tomorrow so it's a little more obvious exactly what you're getting.

I do have a question though (everyone)... as my amp isn't powering up. I'm fairly certain I've hooked everything up correctly... I checked after the fuse with the car and radio on and I show voltage on the power cable at the amp, but no voltage when I check the remote wire -- I'm assuming this is the problem. What kind of voltage should I be seeing on the remote terminal at the amp? I connected it to the blue power antannae (blue with a non factory wiring harness) wire at the head unit... I imaging that should work... but the amp's not turning on at all.

If it's not the remote, could it be the ground also? I found a bold that I figured would ground it out, but I could be wrong. I hooked everything up afterwork... so, mostly by flashlight.

What do you have the remote wire wired to?

it's wired to the blue wire (on a standard color scheme, not crazy toyota factory color scheme). The wire's got a sticker on it, 'power antannae' or something of the sort.

well, when I connect the voltmeter to the power and ground terminals, I've got power... when I connect the remote and ground, I've got nothing... so that's my problem, right? The remote isn't hooked up correctly.

As for connection on the back of your HU, it should be connected to remote or ACC+. If you have it on the power antenna, it will only come on with the radio, not CD's or anything else.

You should see ~12V on the remote wire when testing across that and your ground.

I popped the head unit out today and was like 'duh'. I blame it on the fact that I was working by flash light last night.

I plugged the remote into the remote wire coming from the car, not the head unit. A quick switcheroo and everything's dandy. Thanks for the help.

They shouldn't have so many blue wires...it would help :)
