Default hard shifts after putting in a short shifter

hey guys i was wondering if anyone had problems with overly hard shifts after installing a short shifter in their tc i bought the fidanza short shifter and cut it down a bit so it would look shorter than the stock shifter. i was also wondering if the twm bushing kit might help this problem at all

yeah i have this problem too. I got the creative compacts short shifter and didnt use the spacers to bring it back up to height so i have about one of the lowest shift ***** out there and shortest throw.

I really like the look and feel but it is tough sometimes getting it into gear and it's definitely not as smooth as stock.

i've got the twm stage 2....its relatively smooth...i'm not sure if the bushings will help that much....what helped a lot was a weighted shift ****....imo, that helped smooth the throw a little bit....

One thing you can do is install the kit as it was delivered to you. Leave the kit the way the manufacturer designed it and install it the way they recommend.

Otherwise, a true short shifter is supposed to feel a bit tighter and shift more agressively. This is the nature of the beast.

mine was very stiff at first but after about a week it loosened up and now after 2 months it shifts with ease.

WOAH! that is so short '06touringcoupe... The idea of a short shifter is to shorten the throw, not the height (all that much).

I have the Megan shifter... It's smooth and there is definitely less room for mistakes than before. I think it is the same as the CC shifter, and I did put in the spacers/bushings. Here is an image. Sorry for the cell phone pic.

BTW, I would NEVER CUT a shifter? Is that what you did?

cutting it changes the geometry so you lose leverage. its why you feel that its harder to shift. i thought my cc shortshifter was hard when i first installed it but it took me a week or 2 to get used to it. i think my right arm might be beefier than my left now.

06touringcoupe yu apparently know nothing of the geometry of shifters. You lose throw you lose leverage. There are wways around this, like installing teh kit the right way.

it's nice and stiff and i like it that way. you know for sure when it's in gear or not. you'll get used to it. it will loosen up a tad from when you first put it in though.

I think you cutting the short shifter is the problem. You cut the shifter wayyyyy too short.
