View Full Version : Who is actually going to buy an '08 xD? Matrixv01 02-28-2007, 08:18 PM I'm going to be buying either the '08 xD or xB later this year. Who else is actually going to purchase one of the nextgen Scions? jdgriswald 03-01-2007, 06:07 PM Was hoping to be able to buy a Yaris 5-door RS, but this looks to be the closest equivalent. Prefer the body on the Yaris, but interior of xD is essentially that of the Yaris with more available options. Kremtok 03-02-2007, 05:33 PM There's a chance I may get a 2009, because my xA is going to be paid off in a few months, and I want to ride out the no car payment thing as long as I can. The big decision breaker for me is the interior. Being that's where I'd be spending most of my time with the car, if I don't like it, then I won't buy one. From these pictures, the interior is pretty horrible. I'm hoping it's better in person; we'll just have to wait and see. kdepew 03-04-2007, 02:58 AM If you want to ride out the no car payment thing as long as possible, you shouldn't need to replace your xA for many years (unless you drive a ton of miles). Nemesis_xD 03-14-2007, 09:00 PM I am going to buy one. Sly_dawg19 03-14-2007, 09:08 PM saving for 09 skyline.. that ill get in 2013 :) so it has time to fix and add little things :) PhilP10 03-15-2007, 02:07 AM saving for 09 skyline.. that ill get in 2013 :) so it has time to fix and add little things :) You mean GT-R... because Skyline = G35. I might get a xD depending on how much it is and if that kit will be available from the dealer. Sly_dawg19 03-15-2007, 04:50 AM I dont consider the g35 a real skyline. its not AWD, its not turbo. even if japanese nissan says it is. just like lancer isnt considered an evo by the general population. BUT, you can still call an evo a lancer, because it is a Lancer Evolution. Same with imprezza. Imprezza wrx sti. Im talking about 09 nissan skyline gt-r, awd, turbo, full on badass :) breunor 03-15-2007, 04:41 PM It depends on how much room there is in the xD, whether I'll buy one. The xB has by far the most head/leg room for the driver of anything I've seen up to and including the hummer h2. Both my wife and I are over 6'6" so fitting into the car is an important part. :D The original xB has 46" head room and 45" leg room, compared to xA's 39" and 41" respectively. Like most cars, the xA is barely enough and not comfy, while the xB is. Larger cars aren't any better, the Camry for example has under 39" head and under 42" leg room, pretty much the same as the xA. The Hummer has 40.5" headroom and 41.3" legroom, and pretty much all cars regardless of outer size fall into this range of "comfy for 6'2" and smaller". So if the xD is a little roomier than the xA as claimed, I might go with it. If not I'll stick to the xB till I find something that's affordable, gets good mileage, and fits. javastan 03-15-2007, 04:51 PM My wife are looking in to trading in her 05 xB for an 08. Since her car is mod free (boring) I have no trouble up grading. Heck it is her car. PhilP10 03-15-2007, 09:14 PM I dont consider the g35 a real skyline. its not AWD, its not turbo. even if japanese nissan says it is. just like lancer isnt considered an evo by the general population. BUT, you can still call an evo a lancer, because it is a Lancer Evolution. Same with imprezza. Imprezza wrx sti. Im talking about 09 nissan skyline gt-r, awd, turbo, full on badass :) Not all Skylines are/were AWD and turbo only the top of the line GT-R models were. And its not Skyline GT-R anymore just GT-R. They're 2 different cars now. So yeah the G35 is a Skyline through and through but not a GT-R. Prefer the body on the Yaris, but interior of xD is essentially that of the Yaris with more available options. You've gotta' be talking in dimensions only, right? The interiors look NOTHING alike. The Yaris center stack is about as bland as they come. ~SM RedneckwithanxB 03-20-2007, 04:36 AM provided i can get rid of my box, ill be getting an xD... jdgriswald 03-20-2007, 04:35 PM You've gotta' be talking in dimensions only, right? The interiors look NOTHING alike. The Yaris center stack is about as bland as they come. ~SM Actually it's more the small details: heater knobs, shifter housing, rear seats, also looks like the cup holder/vent concept. Granted, the overall is quite different. neolusions 03-22-2007, 07:45 AM if you're talkin skylines there many different models. GT-R series didnt not include the g35. Most people associate skyline with the gt-r34. the g35 is a v35 (known in japan as 350 GT) Also announced is the infiniti g37 (v36) coming for 2008. have fun with people confusing the gtr and the v36 whisperingshadow 04-13-2007, 05:41 AM I am most likely getting one...If not then a civic EX 2dr... THE_DON 04-13-2007, 04:11 PM If the price is going to be what I think, it'll probably draw a lot of customers away from the Yaris 4-door. Many young family types and college students. I mean... Same platform, same price (my guess), same or better MPG, more cargo room, more standard safty features, more horsepower. Some people will think it's ugly compared to the "baby Camry" looks of the Yaris S, but I do see this vehicle canabalizing it's Toyota cousin. Will the "tuner crowd" flock to it? Time will tell. But with all the excitement over the polarizing new tC powered box, the xD might follow in the xA's footsteps. -THE DON scionofPCFL 04-13-2007, 04:55 PM The Yaris sold more xA's for me than anything else. They'd come in for the Yaris, want this and that, then we'd show them that the Yaris with this and that was $1200 more than an xA, and the xA feels a lot sturdier, they were done. salteen 04-13-2007, 05:17 PM I think that if I was in the market I would seriously consider the xD...the xB not so much DriverXa 04-13-2007, 07:27 PM I'm holdin onto my xA 4 a very very long time. When I start pullin in some big money I'll either save up for an IS-F or an M5. Fowvay 04-13-2007, 07:58 PM I am considering the upcoming Xb. Like the above poster I am also freaky tall 6'5" but also have um... extra girth? Oh allright... I'm fat. Very few cars fit my needs and I mean very few. I did a money no object tour of the Cleveland Auto Show looking for cars I was actually comfortable in. The Scion display was all show and no seat time allowed so I couldn't find out anything usefull there. Smart, Jaguar, Bently and Aston Martin were also absent allthough I suspect that I wouldn't be able to fit into any of those anyways. Ok so back on track here. Cars I actually was comfortable in. New Beetle (yes thats why I own one_ VW Rabbit 2-door only. VW Passat. VW EOS. MB S-Class Volvo S60 Mini Cooper Audi A4 Cabriolet. The sedans doors are too small. So money no object that's all Im comfy in? WTF? Notice the complete absence of suv's or trucks? Well that's because I didn't bother looking at something I have zero interest in owning. :D azepolyn 04-13-2007, 08:28 PM the fiancee is wanting on. If she moves quick enough on the new car front, she'll get a new xA instead, which both she and I prefer. YourNameHere 04-16-2007, 12:50 PM i like the xD more then the xB2...i am interested in check them out come release time chewd0g 04-19-2007, 04:55 PM I think it's going to be very interesting how well they sell. If you look at the difference between the xD and xB stock and then them with aftermarket wheels and body kit it changes everything. The 1G xB and xA were very good looking cars stock, and only got better with upgrades. Now it's taken a step down I think. I can't make the final call until I actually sit in one. I do plan to check them out when released. I'm still, STILL, waiting on money from my accident that totaled my xA. Driving a stupid Chevy Prizm right now and can't wait to get rid of it. Should receive about $15k from that, pending my situation I might just use that to buy a new car. d114 04-20-2007, 02:49 AM When did the new xb go on sale? I saw two of them on the freeway today. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t60/mkokimoto/DSC_0150Small.jpg one of them had the manufacturer plate. this was on the 405. a_german_named_hans 04-20-2007, 02:58 AM I'm pushing my parents to get an xD. Thing looks so much better in person. My parents are in the Market for a new car soon and I'm hoping they get the xD. Swordsman 05-02-2007, 08:07 PM I'll be in the market for a 2008 model something... I haven't made my mind up yet. I'm looking at: a.) a Toyota Yaris 3dr hatch b.) a Hyundai Accent 3dr hatch c.) a Scion xD The Yaris is kinda cool, but the interior sucks, and it would take a lot of work to make it feel sporty at all. Not many available options, but best mpg. The Accent, to me, is the best looking of the bunch (I know, I know, I must be off my rocker!). Power and handling is better than the Yaris (SE model), but it suffers from very low gearing... MANY customers are having a hard time breaking 30mpg (yet some get 36-38???)! Fairly decent interior, but nothing to get excited about. The xD, if it stays in the same price range as the other two, trumps them all in every respect, except for exterior styling, which is totally subjective. Awesome interior, best power, fuel economy ridiculously close to the Yaris, better space... it would be a no-brainer shoe in. However, I still can't decide if I like the exterior styling of the xD enough to live with it. Time will tell, I guess. Not to mention, there should be a new Aveo on the market (we can only hope GM gets their act together this time around), and rumors of a Ford-badged, Mazda 2-based entry as well. 2008 is gonna' be an exciting race in the small car segment as everyone scrambles to get on board with this trend shift... I'm looking forward to it! ~SM equinox2355 05-02-2007, 08:40 PM When did the new xb go on sale? LiquidFX 05-02-2007, 11:18 PM a lot of dealers got some on the 29 of last month. Randode was supposed to get his then. Thirty-Nine 05-03-2007, 08:57 PM When it comes time to replace our Civic in the next couple of years, we will be looking at a lot of cars, including the xD. Since my wife will be driving this car the most, it'll depend on her opinion. I can't say we'll be buying an xD for sure, but we'll go look at one. Matts_Box 05-06-2007, 09:12 PM I'll be in the market for a 2008 model something... I haven't made my mind up yet. I'm looking forward to it! ~SM I am also considering these three cars as a replacement for my xB.... and no... you are not off your rocker saying the 3 door Accent is the best looking of the bunch. But the thread below is a big concern and scratched the Accent off my list:  http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t12918-malfunction-indicator-light.htm I like the Yaris too, but I also think the interior just has no style.... and it looks like it was made by Fisher-Price or Mattel! :silly: So I am down to the xD... I have only seen the pictures on the web so far. I like what I have seen of the interior. Regarding the exterior styling... I need to see the car in person in "3-D" because I don't think the pics do it justice. I also like the fact it has 128hp... more than the others. So far the xD is the winner for me. SHU 05-07-2007, 10:45 PM Unless my career takes a unexpected turn down hill :nails: I'll be buying a xD. Honestly I'd rather have a xD sized Gen2 xB with xD MPG but I'll settle for the xD. Stargate_Toaster 05-08-2007, 06:17 PM I'll probably buy an xD when they come out. GymkhanaKen 05-10-2007, 02:51 AM I'm picking up mine this month on the 21st....! Black, AT @ Longo, I'll post pic as soon as I get it :P Grand_Pollock 05-10-2007, 03:03 AM I am strongly considering getting an xD for my wife. I am already on order for the xB star2fire 05-13-2007, 09:32 PM I'm picking up mine this month on the 21st....! Black, AT @ Longo, I'll post pic as soon as I get it :P Please post pictures!! I am ordering one also, from San Bernardino Toyota, except I am wondering if I could get it sooner at a bigger dealer? TeeCizzle 05-14-2007, 06:19 AM After seeing the xD at Toyota-Fest in person...Looks WAY better than the New xB....xD has a "tight" look'in dash too!.. ZOMGXB 05-20-2007, 10:25 PM I'd be more likely to get the xD than the xB2... but I plan on driving my box until the wheels fall off. SECONDED ON ALL COUNTS the xD is being billed as the xB's REAL replacement, since the new one is a fat bloated piece of crap of slightly modified dimensions. It'll suck to sacrifice the headroom, but worth it to...uh...not drive a B2. I was kind of waffling, but after reading the TTAC review....yyyeah. xD it is. Ali_Cat 05-21-2007, 09:26 PM it seems like the xd is more well liked than the new xb... didn't see that comin |
