What do you guys recommend to be the cheapest and easiest solution to getting better bass in an Automatic tC?

ive learned that pretty much all subs pound if powered right if i was u i would go to my local shop and just get the cheapest 12 and whatever amp they recommend but element designs makes sweet ____ for the tc check that out im sure u would like

if you use an mp3 player or ipod and dont have the adapter and just use a plug, make sure it is a good and more expensive brand as in like 20-30 dollars, and using cds is much better with bass then either the ipod adapter or just the wire or go to circuit city or pep boys and pick up an "ultimate bass package" lol which comes with and amp and subs and box for less than 150

Just splice into the rear speaker wires for the signal, then run power wires and you're done. Go ahead, try to find a less expensive system.

True, all subs will "bump" that is the purpose of a sub. However I don't recommend going to the local shop and buying the cheapest thing on the shelf for two reasons...

1. It will not last very long
2. It will most likely sound like garbage!

There are plenty of online audio sites that have great gear for great prices, ED being one of them.

Infinity BassLinkII or an Elemental Designs SQ10. Better bass, and sound good for being on the lower spectrum of the price pole.
Another thing you can try if you don't know about it, is to change the vehicle type on the stock head unit. Hold down SSP for a few seconds until the option to change the setting appears. See if you like the other settings better.

$400, hmm. BasslinkII and wiring in my opinion. You're not going to get extremely loud for $400 though. Well, you can, but it will sound like absolute ____. The Basslink will save space too.

Ultimately you're going to get a ton of options and opinions from all of us. Best bet is to take a favorite cd to a close audio shop, and look at what you can afford.

so the BasslinkII will hook up with the stock head unit no problem without any converter?
I'm kind of worried about the BasslinkII being only 125WRMS. My PC speakers bass is more than that!

You'll need a low level output converter (abbreviated LOC here). Or, i'm pretty sure it has high-level inputs, which means you can tap into the rear speaker wires instead of using an LOC.

If you want more, the next step up would be a slimline, such as an SQ10, and then up to a full-sized 10" or 12". A decent setup for those is likely to pass $400 though.

Can the SQ10 be mounted in a regular 10" Sub Enclosure? If so how does a nine.2, SQ10, and a new head unit sound?

I was searching a little more through things and found this...I just can't wrap my head around the price. Is this for real?

Also, is it a good idea to go installing subs and new head units when you just got the car and don't know that much about how to do it and am just going by the tutorials on this site?

installs in any scion, especially a tC are cake and don't worry about the new factor, as long as you use the right parts you will be fine. and Audiobahn is crap so that price reflects the crap. Get it if you want noisy bass that will take up your entire trunk. If you want bass and want it cheap search ebay or the classifieds for one of those bazooka factory boxes so you still have your trunk and they come pre amped also. You will be spending much more money to maintain your trunk and get decent sound but when you are ready for a fiberglass box that will fit any sweet ten let me know.

my budget is no more than $500

For $500:

ED 13Kv.2 = $125
Nine.2 = $220

Line Output Converter = $20
Wiring = $50
Pre-fab sealed box = <$75

That puts it at about $490 and will sound great and give you a good deal of bump as well...

Now would the above void my warranty? Also how many Watts RMS would the above achieve?

The only way any aftermarket part can void your warranty is if the said aftermarket part directly caused a malfunction in a warranted item... such as a turbo system making an engine throw a rod - that wouldn't be covered under warranty because the turbo is aftermarket and caused the malfunction...


The above mentioned system (with a D2 VC subwoofer) will make the amp push about 400 watts at 12.5volts...

To bad your not in Houston. For around $400 I could get you a Panasonic indash cd/mps player with motorized detachable face the wiring harness and install kit, along with the 2 guage amp kit a 1000watt rms amp , 2 500watt rms 10's or 12's and a box, I would even install it all for a lot less then any shop too, since I do all the car audio stuff on the side and at my house
