This piece (borrowed off the DIY) wont come off.

Any tips on getting it off? I've cracked it and scraped off half the plastic and it still won't come off. I've pryed at it for a good hour and had no success other than breaking pieces off it.

I pryed it off carefully with a flat head screwdriver. Just make sure you take the metal clips off first

Insert a flathead screwdriver where the top red arrow in the picture is.
Using a screwdriver (or better, a chisel) pry the cap upward at the spots marked by the two lower red arrows.

I've done so many of these, I can pop the top cap off in less than a minute.

I envy you. The flathead let loose a couple times and since I pulled off the A/C and Radio dash piece so I had more room for leverage it looks like I punched a barbed wire fence a couple times. I have more blood than grease on my short shifter.

Took like an hour but I got it off. Then promptly shot the bushing on the bottom of the arm across a parking lot and spent another hour trying to find it that.

I almost killed myself, but instead now I have my short shifter installed.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Can you please never install any electrical items in the car since I am afraid you will fry yourself
