Greetings!

We've caught an error in our newest brochure - - page 29 (xB accessory section) suggests that xB is available with side / side curtain airbags. Of course it is not. We are making stickers to cover up the error for all future shipments of the book.

Unfortunately, each dealer has received 100 of them, meaning there are nearly 80,000 in distribution. We have notifed the regions of the error, and ask that they have dealers destroy the books in stock - - of course, we'll replace them w/ corrected versions.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding!

Have you, or are you going to, correct the statement in the 2004 brochure that stated that the rear seats of the xB are "removable"?

Re: rear seats of xB being "removeable"....

Yes, our new brochures ONLY say that they fold.

Thanks!

Dang. You mean they're not going to change the product to match the brochure?

What about the manual for the xB security system that says the alarm can be equipped with a buzzer? I have talked to people at the dealership and at Scion corporate and no one has been able to confirm this, so why is it in there? I don't understand why xA owners are able to have one, but the xB doesn't even have the option. Could you explain the point of that, please?

Hang onto those brochures! 30 years from now they will be worth big $$$, especially the rare ones that promise features that Toyota never intended to provide! :)

The manuals are put together and available by the time the first vehicle comes off the production line. This means the possibility that there will be features in the manual that do not make it to production.

For example, the Prius manual clearly shows Daytime Running Lights on the light stalk. Only problem is, the Prius does not come with daytime running lights.

What is, is.

How about just giving us the damn side airbags?

There's an idea.

As much as I relish the idea of my head smashing sideways, unprotected, into the giant side windows of my xB, I think I'd like it if Toyota could give a crap about my safety. If Hyundai can put side airbags in a $9,000 Accent, I think Toyota can manage to put them in the xB.

  WAAAAAAAAAAAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA   If it was that important WHY DIDN'T you buy a KIA or a HUNDAE and save the boxes for those that love them for what they are and don't want to pay for crap we don't need. Side curtain airbags are for cars that have a low window frame so unless you are 7 ft. + You won't hit your head on steel just the safty glass which is real thin and breaks real easy. Thats why the xA has them their roofline is lower.

OK my mistake.

I forgot that smashing your head sideways into glass won't cause any injuries. My bad.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Definitely don't want to pay for crap I don't need. Thats why I'm so glad I got electronic stability control and a loud azz stereo instead of side airbags. Who needs side airbags when you can listen to Limp Bizkit at 150 decibels, right?

you = genius

Unfair comparison. Think of all the things you're getting in the Scion that Hyundai can't offer, including a ton of safety features. Anyone who knows toyota knows just how much they do care about safety.....the car isn't unsafe just because it doesn't have side/curtain airbags.
