its funny how your driving along in a fairly straight path and then you go way out of your way to roswell and then get back on your path, lol...

Well, at 667 miles per day, you won't have much time to do anything but drive. Figure 12-13 hours per day on the road. The route you have is mostly freeways. Boooorrrrriiiing

I think you'd have more fun with half the people and half the miles.

If the four of you are still friends at the end of this trip, you have a very strong friendship.

my only tip is to make sure and have a ton of money saved up prior to taking on a trip of this caliber.

save aside at least $800 and use that budget for gas.. (a bit over estimating the amount to be on the safe side)

hmm.. then food money.. lodging money (unless you really plan to sleep in the car the whole trip...)... emergency money... money, money...

when the time get near towards the day you leave... keep us updated... we can plan a nice party with the locals at each stop.. and who knows...

maybe someone would be kind enough to let you sleep at their place to save you some money.

I've driven my tC 700+ miles in a single day several times, it's a 5 speed, and I thought it was very comfortable -- and pleasurable. Maybe you need to balance your tires or something.

I just made a cross country trip in my 5spd tC. It was plenty comfy and I drove a few 14hr days. I started in CT and went south into FL and then all the way out to LA on Route 10. It's a fairly uneventful route but it's where you stop and who you travel with that makes the trip anyway. I only had my dog in the front seat to keep me company. I'm actually about to make another drive, this time in a Penske truck with my best friend. We're taking Route 40 this time though. I actually blogged the 1st trip and plan to blog the 2nd one too. http://deklein.blogspot.com
As far as travel advice... the money thing is important, for pretty much everything. Beyond that, I'd say pick up a case of H2O, charge your ipod/mp3 and make sure you can play it through your stereo, and keep your eyes pealed for fun stuff (signs, places, people, etc.) and make sure you've got a camera in someone's hands at all times. Have an awesome trip!

For AZ, I suggest you take some extra time and go down to Sedona, it's worth a few extra hours.
