I agree though, it could def use one extra gear
Not enough power so another gear wouldn't help. Car and Driver did a box comparison Feb 2006 issue. They said top speed was "drag limited" to 111 mph. Others said they've gone faster after some power mods.

i'm sure with some boaring done and some modifications to the gearing ratios that there could be some diffrence in there.
i think, personaly, 1st is a little too short, 3rd could use some more range too and 4th on casual driving should come in more around 50-55 instead of 40-45...
more strain on the block that way... doesn't help that it's like trying to make an air break speed either but... could help a bit. ohwell, i'm not too worried about it. a stock manual xB cn beat a Nissan 240sx stock anyday, and yes, i've tested it. Nissan 240's don't have differential while the xB has the traction control that helps keep a balanced power distribution through the front tires. on a straight shot the xB will smoke a stock 240 any day as long as the xB is manual.

there is a swap people have done, check the echo forums. ill agree with the 111mph drag limited, without F/I thats what you are pretty much limited too, thats where i toped out anyways. i 6th gear wouldnt help without boost, it would just make hwy driving more pleasurable by dropping the rpms while cruising at 80mph....
got a web link for that forum? i'd really like to do something about this whole near 4k rpms at 65mph thing... i'm not diggin it too much. i think atleast i could possibly get my 3rd, 4th and 5th gear lengthened a bit, each one more then the last and just have a completely diffrent ratio all togethere...

the JDM levin 6spd fits the usdm motor. It requires modification to the subframe from my understanding though (notching it about 2" in either direction.
...but yes, there is a bolt on 6spd tranny. Just requires a little lovin...

ONE - they have very long gears on gears 1-3
TWO - they have no differential and loose alot of power at the start. one wheel wil spin out badly and because of that, the other wheel has no power because the "open differential" system switches all power to the slipping wheel so that the one thats not slipping doesn't start to and keeps control. simular to the Scion's Traction control only no differential control and it's an open circuit. being that we can turn our traction control off, we have a full equal amount of power on each side and instantly take off with full force. keeping our traction control on will give simular results to the 240 but not as bad.
after about 60-70mph though the 240 will pass you without breaking a sweat be it takes time for both cars to get up there and generaly speaking, the time it takes to get there is basicly your 1/4 mile race. after the SRT4 is installed on a 240. no matter what you do, if you don't do an engine swap or bore out your block to atleast 2.0, you will loose everytime to a SRT4.
