BoomBox757 08-27-2004, 01:13 AM make sure it is a touchless and that they don't use recycled water shawnjperiod 08-27-2004, 07:04 AM all i can say is check the ground clearance on the tracks...they fu@@#$% up the right lip!!! xboxPS2 08-27-2004, 09:08 AM yeah man those NY carwashes are WAY too high for a lowered box...well mine isn't low enough yet but...be careful that they use fresh water and make sure u have enough ground clearance!!!! Jeff BoomBox757 08-27-2004, 07:27 PM my car wash doesn't have tracks, you just pull in to the port, then the washer repositions using "laser Technology" TheScionicMan 08-27-2004, 08:02 PM I recommend staying away from those, but that's just me. If your rreally worried about your paint, are you going to worry about saving a couple dollars? I've seen too many things torn loose, etc from auto car washes. Personally, these are such small cars, they are simple to hand wash and it gets you more familiar with your ride. I could tell you EVERY nick, scratch and ding on my Box right now. manejounxa 08-27-2004, 08:23 PM i stay away from the drive thru one's.i take both my rides to my favorite hand car wash place.been going to them for over 2 years................juan xBguy 08-27-2004, 08:26 PM I heard this story years ago....... dude takes his pick-up truck thru one of those unattended mini washes (ya know the kind where you stay in your car) and he forgot that he had a bunch of BARBED WIRE in the back. He remembered about the same time as the horizontal roller picked the wire and started beating up his truck! Here's the real ____er..... since there wasn't anyone around, the _______ took off leaving the wire all tangled up in the rollers!!! Frankly, no one touches my car!! I'll wash it myself!!!! WagenMaster 08-27-2004, 08:48 PM I would never ever use one with rollers. When I was a teenager I had a side mirror and antenna ripped off my Sentra by one of those things. I go to a touchless washer near my house about 3x a month. It works great, and doesn't damage my box. BlueBox 08-27-2004, 09:15 PM I agree... washing ur own car is the surest way of cleaning it with utmost care. But if u're lazy... drive thru washes are okay. Just make sure they use full sheep fur with good quality soap. Also..stay away from those rubber wackers...not good for cars. A good tip is to find a "full Hand Wash" Car wash...and places that washes very expensive vehicles is a good sign of their work. I used to take mine to Newprt Wash...off on PCH... the cheapest car there was mine..hehe. Most cars being washed and waxed are mercedes, bmw, bentley, hummers, and even ferrari. TheScionicMan 08-27-2004, 09:50 PM Yeah, it's hard to beat a good hand job... Sorry, it's Friday and its been a busy week. zach 08-28-2004, 01:06 AM washing a new car is a DIY kinda deal, imho i never go to drive through car washes because they do a half-assed job. elzy0000 08-28-2004, 01:22 AM touchless washes are great for clam-baking... roll in, do your thing and when the dry cycle comes on roll down the windows Archivez2005TC 08-28-2004, 01:22 AM i used to work at a car wash and eventhough it was "the best carwash in the area", I wouldn't take my car there, peoples rides came out scratched 1 outa 5 times, nothing terrible but still, a scratch is a scratch |
