Default Ipod Interface Options

Okay, so after scouring this site and many others I've realized that I DO NOT want to go with the Kenwood KCA-IP500 Ipod Interface Adapter mated with my Kenwood DDX-6019 Double Din Head Unit.

The reason why is because from the reviews I've read, the only way to make this device livable with your ipod, would be to unplug it and select a playlist, plug it back in and so on. The reason for this, is because it acts like a 10 Disc Changer on mine and many other Kenwood Decks. - reference link: http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KCA-iP.../dp/B00084YFGS
in the reviews portion, it explains the gripes

My question is, is there another "Universal" Alternative to the Kenwood Unit? I've seen Denison ice> - but the site says that it's discontinued in the US. I've also heard of PIE, but I don't know what quality these units would provide.

The features I'm looking for are: Ipod Charging capabilities
On screen interface
Sound Quality

So, Scionlife, what do you guys use for your ipods? Thanks in advance.

The Harman Kardon Drive+Play is pretty cool. I don't have one at this point, but I've used it and it's quite nice. The ipod stuff is displayed on a dash mounted screen and the playback is controlled by a ****. It isn't HU control, but it's quite functional.

personally, i like going through the aux input. with the right cable, it will charge the ipod and give you perfect sound quality. unfortunately, no on screen info and you have to control everything through the acyual ipod. i'll take that over any interface i've used thus far.

i'm not 100 percent sure it'll work with your headunit, but i'm sure there's something similar out there that will.

The Drive+Play will hook up via aux input or RCA inputs on the back of the HU if you have inputs.

Thanks for the replies, but I think I'm just going to go with the Kenwood unit because it matches my system, despite the problems/flaws, I think that it'll be livable.

yeah, i don't know if I'll hate it. It's much easier to select a playlist, then plug it in...

i just don't know about the quality of that plug. it's really expensive for it being a no-name sort of product.
