Now all I need are the black housing projectors that bBist has!
JdMBboFSD 08-27-2004, 04:17 AM not my style......too much mesh for me.......that my opinion.....thats it......
kozmo 08-27-2004, 04:19 AM nice :D how mutch?
its_ikon 08-27-2004, 04:19 AM i thought they were looking for an rs1 to match the grill?
Al-Truistic 08-27-2004, 04:24 AM Dang! It is a lot of mesh but, it look like the quality is top notch! Are the black grilles painted or does it have a powdercoating of some kind? Great job... :D
BraveLittleToaster 08-27-2004, 04:28 AM i thought they were looking for an rs1 to match the grill?
On the rs1 there is an air deflector piece behind the top billet grille so they needed to make a template off of that one. And for the price I will hopefully find out tomorrow.
allblackxb 08-27-2004, 04:32 AM DAMN! That's nice. Is that a complete set for all three grilles or just the top one? I'm interested!
confucious 08-27-2004, 04:46 AM At first I did not like mesh but these look high quality. Looks nice. Any for tC yet?
LowProMofo 08-27-2004, 04:48 AM That looks real good! :D Where can I buy it?
BraveLittleToaster 08-27-2004, 04:48 AM you can buy the top and the two lowers seprately
OrAnGeBoX 08-27-2004, 04:59 AM I like it for my rs1 all black look pimp
allblackxb 08-27-2004, 05:00 AM Are the bottom 2 grilles air flowing? Is there a plate behind them the upper grille? If so does it look like they can be taken off. I need air to my intercooler.
allblackxb 08-27-2004, 05:01 AM Damn i forgot. Also do thoes little grillcraft emblems come with the grill? Those are sick!
BraveLittleToaster 08-27-2004, 05:09 AM The two lowers are air flowing, the top is not. And yes the emblems come with the grill.
allblackxb 08-27-2004, 05:16 AM sick thanks! Hopefully I'm the second person with these grills! I'm going to get the black ones!
TheScionicMan 08-27-2004, 05:18 AM It looks pretty good, but my first thought is what will it look like after it hits a few dozen bugs...
az_pinoy 08-27-2004, 05:21 AM It looks pretty good, but my first thought is what will it look like after it hits a few dozen bugs...
 ...BUG-B-Q Grill??? :P
...i really like this set of grills though...if i had the money i'd get it for sure 8)

allblackxb 08-27-2004, 05:22 AM oh yeah. Well my xb's basically ruined. I have perminant bug spots. and chips in the paint. Too many damn roadtrips! At least it'll look good for the moment.
BraveLittleToaster 08-27-2004, 05:28 AM bugs aren't really a problem. i've had the lowers on for over a month and when ever a bug gets smashed on it all u have to do is poke it and it'll fall off. I think they dont stick to the powdercoat or sumthin cuz they still look brand new.
allblackxb 08-27-2004, 05:35 AM That's good to know. If i took a pic of the front of my car right now. BUGS EVERYWHERE! We never really wash it. But if it's simple to clean then it's all good.
Minsk99 08-27-2004, 06:52 AM Nice! Your ride looks great w/ the three grills. I've had the bottom two (black) on mine for around three weeks now and have been waiting for Grillcraft to finish production of the top section. One thing I didn't like about the middle grill was that it bolts over the stock honeycomb grill and you can see it it behind the Grillcraft. Looks kind of shotty. What I did was to saw the "honeycomb" out from the frame and then bolt the GC grill into that. It looks way better that way. Also, the screws that come with the GC are silver colored. This seemed to stand out from the black grill. I used some BSP touch-up paint on the screws and it looked a lot tighter IMO. Hopefully now that they finished the top section mine is in the mail. I'm on the phone with them in the am to make sure. Thanks for posting the pics.
Munch 08-27-2004, 01:35 PM i like the bottom 2 but not the top 8)
dchan8 08-27-2004, 01:49 PM i like it, looks easier to clean than all the oem stuff.
watermelon_fat 08-27-2004, 06:39 PM Love it~~just like the speed grill~
i will get on o think~ :D
neckbonenick 08-27-2004, 07:05 PM I love it!!!

How much of the center honeycomb did you cut away?
Minsk99 08-27-2004, 08:37 PM How much of the center honeycomb did you cut away?
All of it. There is a 2mm plastic border around the honeycomb. I cut down all the way and then used a grinder to get it smoother. The plastic border is fairly flimsy without the honeycomb to support it, but once it snaps into place on the bumper it is very secure.
TheDanger 08-28-2004, 04:35 AM I want a black one...tell us how much!
windowtint 08-28-2004, 05:24 AM Also do thoes little grillcraft emblems come with the grill? Those are sick!
My take is unless Grillcraft is paying YOU, they can keep their little stickers and badges.
ScionRI 08-28-2004, 02:57 PM Now all I need are the black housing projectors that bBist has!
you can do it yourself with the lights you already have.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/max2k/DSCN0691.jpg
just take apart the housing and paint everything that isn't used by the light black. It looks incredible.
TheDanger 08-29-2004, 01:42 AM that looks amazing! More pics?! Maybe a how to??
gloomybox 08-30-2004, 01:32 AM on the grillcraft website it says that you need to drill a hole in the bumper to attach the bottom piece of the mounting screw. for the middle/lower grills. am i looking at that wrong? can i install by just drillingo the grill without drilling the extra screw for the bumper? since i'd rather not need extra holes. I hope that made sense. kinda tired.
philip 08-30-2004, 02:23 AM any tip on how you painted the headlight housing?
House_Of_Steel 09-02-2004, 05:29 PM Are these available yet ( just need the bottom 2 ) to be mounted on the HOT LAVA

Yup. The bottom two have been out for a month or so and the top one just came in the mail a few days ago.
BraveLittleToaster 09-02-2004, 07:19 PM watch out for the speed*BUMP*
Max2k 09-02-2004, 08:35 PM $200 for some mesh?

Much cheaper. I cant recall the cost I paid to do a little grill on my current car. I think it was like a whole $3.00 for a 36"x24" or so of the stuff. I got it from true value. It might look funny but it works better then the stock grill did. After doing it that 1 time I learned mostly what I would need to do to make it look much better.

The grills are very sold and are not the same type of mesh that you get at Home Depot. They are also powder coated and have frames that are perfectly contoured to fit the xB. They are kind of $teep in price, but they look very high quality. Its worth taking the time to paint the included hardware black (if you order the black grills) and cutting out the honeycomb on the center stock grill. Here's a picture of how the black grills look on my BSP.

josho66 09-05-2004, 03:20 AM Damn those look good. I like that style much more than the billet grilles.
SweetDaddyDelicious 09-05-2004, 04:14 AM $340 for high quality gutter guard. It looks good. Does it look $340 good? Not to me, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mesh has been played out by every ricer civic for the past 2 years. I guess it's a step above the APC mesh at autozone, but then again my poop is a step above anything APC has ever made. No joke, a friend of mine made a custom grill for his Excursion from Home Depot doggie door grating and it actually looked good.

Arguments about aesthetics are kinda pointless. Each to their own. But, I might point out that AMG uses similar style black mesh on the lower grills of their Benz. Is that rice? Also, people keep talking about how cheap and easy it would be to fabricate a similar quality, powder coated, mesh grill for the xB. I'd like to see this. I have no problems if people don't like the grill. Thats individual taste. But until I see a good looking, painted, set of mesh grills on an xB done DIY I wont think that I spent too much on these. I'm sure they will come down in price in a few months.
E_Money 09-06-2004, 09:53 PM A few questions...
Do the bottom two grills only come in black or can you get them in sliver too?
and
Is the price including shipping? If not how much would it be to ship to 19457?
picklewagon 09-14-2004, 10:31 PM Honestly, that's rediculous to charge almost $300 for three mesh grilles. I understand the work that goes into design and fitment, but the manufacturing costs of thin metal have to be 1/100 of what is being charged.
