Default Clutch noise

If this belongs in the xB Owners' Lounge please move it.

So, I had my clutch replaced about 2,500 miles ago under warranty (Had it replaced at 28,000 miles). The car now has about 30,500 miles on it, and I've noticed the cluch has begun to chrip when in neutral. I even brought it to the dealer today, but the squeek went away as I pulled into the dealership (of course). I left the car with them all day, and they couldn't replicate it.

However, after getting almost all the way home, the chirp returned, and it is worse than ever. I whipped out my camera phone to record some video, (crappy footage, I know, but the noise is evident) so here it is:

My guess is it is the throwout bearing.

Thoughts?

get the exedy stage 1 clutch kit and get it replaced. i wouldn't get the regular stock clutch again if it had problems. or get the trd performance clutch.

Dude ...

So, I had my clutch replaced about 2,500 miles ago under warranty ...
I just had the clutch replaced; it was free under warranty. I'll gladly accept as many free clutches as Toyota is willing to give me before I shell out $900 for an aftermarket unit/labor.

That isn't the point anyway.

The clutch chirped all the way into work today, too. I'm going to bring it in over lunch.

Haha! My car makes the same noise. Goes away when you put any amount of pressure on the clutch pedal. Toyota said that I warped the clutch PP and the noise is the result. They also said they would be delighted to fix it if I was willing to part with $1054. I'm sure you know what my response to that one was...

Dude, that sucks... yeah take it back, keep driving up and down the street until it stays happening for sure, then leave it running in the drive, grab a writer, and tell him to get a tech. The cool thing is they put in the clutch, under warranty, all you have to say is "it wasn't like that before" and they should replace whatever it may be. The pressure plate or bearing.

How long do they warranty the clutch anyways?

Oh, yeah...don't mention the autocrossing either

Well, the dealer has come through again. THey said it IS the throwout bearing, and they are going to replace it at no charge.

Well, the latest update is that they found that the spider gear in the transmission was defective. Can someone tell me what (and where) the spider gear is in the transmisson?

The spider gear is the main (large) gear in the differential.

Replacing the throw-out bearing fixed it. My spider gear happened to be bad, too.

had the same problem with my TRD clutch-throwout. (see post here). dealer kept saying it was ok. finally at 20k check i demanded they actually look at it. not only was the assembly shot, but shaft and case had to be replaced. R/R trannie! didn't cost and they provided rental but it was down for 16 days!
