Gotta take the tC in AGAIN!
I'm so sick of this stupid hatch issue!! It started out around Thanksgiving I guess when my hatch decided it didn't want to lift and I had to hold it open... took it into the dealer and the hydraulic struts were leaking... great! But they fixed for free, thank God, because it was still under warranty. Well, like 2 days later I was driving around without the music on, and I noticed this insane rattle coming from the hatch! Holy crap this noise will drive anyone absolutely mad!!! This started back in January, but being in college and all, I have had absolutely NO time to take it in and make them fix it (for free, of course!). Well the time has come... I can't live with it anymore! So, tomorrow I'm taking my baby in and hopefully they can do something about it so I can gain my sanity back!!!
Everyone, cross your fingers!!!!

My Girl has an issue with the stock hatch shocks that should have been changed to the upgraded ped-spoiler shocks when she bought the spoiler. She brought them in 2 times and they still put the stock ones back in. Now the stocks she has in are unsafe and make the hatch fall on her when she opens it. I got the part number for the right ones and checked them to the shocks I have, and its the right part.
Why can't the
Service Guys put the right ones in and stop messing around. I'm ready to walk in there and start asking for some more Free oil changes for the trouble of what they put her though. I mean she DID pay for it after all.
"I'm As Mad As Hell, And I Not Going To Take It Anymore!!!" LOL

Ok guys my brother works for lexus and so he can get any tsb i think it stands for toyota service bulletin. If you go into the dealer open the hatch and show them that the two pieces behind your tail light (one piece on each side) they are metal and need to be changed out to rubber ones. Let them know that it is the same part number but its rubber know and they also need to adjust the strider witch is the piece where the hatch contacts on the car not the hatch part. It will go away but you would still need to lube those two parts evertime you wash your car. I hope this helps you guys i know it helped me. AND YES IT IS ANNOYING AS ****!
i had this problem. probably took it in 5 or 6 time for it until i called scion corporate. they had an engineer from japan come out and look at it and it turned out that there were broken welds somewhere which was causing the rattle, not hatch shocks. they took the car apart, rewelded, painted, and now i have my car back. that happened several months ago and the rattle is gone. you might wanna call scion corporate because the engineer told my service adviser that the problem was a safety issue. good luck! cheers!
