Default SC Stock Intake Air Filter Questions

I have seen a few references to SC owners ditching the carbon filter and replacing the stock paper filter with a K&N. But I have not seen what K&N filter they are replacing it with. The air box is different than the NON-SC airbox, so the K&N filter choice cannot be the same as getting the K&N for the tC.

So three questions:

1) Does anyone have the part number for the K&N filter for the stock SC airbox?

2) Do you have to / has anyone removed that horn thing?

3) Do these changes throw a CEL?

Thanks for your responses!

this is the K&N filter for the SC. i was thinking of taking out the hydrocarbon filter-or whatever its called- and the stock one and put this high flow but im not sure if the box will lock when closed because if you look at the airbox the carbon filter sticks out of the side when locked but i'll try it.

I remember someone modified the carbon filter to make it work. They cut out the carbon laced filter media and kept the outer frame. This will allow everything to close and seal like the stock unit -minus the additional pressure drop of the carbon layer...

It's simple to remove the carbon filter and leave the frame. There are actually 2 frames, one to fit the air box, the other is part of the actual carbon filter. It's kind of like plastic rivets holding the two frames together. You just push or pull the filter away from the frame and put the frame back in.
