I like dirty lil' wh0r3s! My friend's CAI was the same way. Just cleaned it up a bit. No biggie. just making sure, i sent it back also they had sent me the wrong one  now i wait one more time :tap: Deathwish238 03-11-2007, 10:40 AM It's always a good idea to rinse out an intake before installing it. It helps make sure there's no metal dust or dirt waiting to be sucked into your engine amdforever 03-11-2007, 12:32 PM Hmmm, I just installed my Injen intake yesterday and it was clean as a whistle when we took it out of the box. Probably should have ran a towel through it to get metal dust out but it't kinda late for that now, lol. Oh, and make sure you guys don't tighten your lugnuts with 110 ft/lbs of torque from a torque wrench :P my friend learned that the hard way with my car yesterday. Some dumba$$ in the auto shop told him 150 was what I needed and he felt it was wrong so he did 110 and it broke the wheel stud clean off. We got the brillant idea to look it up in the manual...it was 76 ft/lbs max, so the idiot told him like twice the recommended amount. The good news is is that the wheel stud was like 6 bucks at the toyota dealership, but the tire shop we took it to charged 80 bucks flat for the labor...kinda ___ but oh well the intake sounds awesome and amazing engine performance now. ESEMRFOZZ13 03-11-2007, 03:46 PM good input, i do plan on cleaning it also. i think thats one area where they cut a corner, pay over $200 and cant even come clean. sux about the wheel stud but ill learn from your experiance. thanks amdforever 03-11-2007, 09:32 PM Lol thats good that you'll keep that in the back of your mind. My buddy and I were going to do a phote install guide on it since we didnt remove the bumper like your suppose to but the hobby shop here on our base was really busy with other people waiting for the bays so we just decided to screw taking pics. And then that happened...more bad news though...after I put up that last post at 430 this morning, I go out to my car about 8 am and someone hit the back end. It's like a 4"x4" square area in the middle of the back bumper...so freakin ____ed right now, its not too bad scuffed the paint off and very slight dent in it, planning on reviewing security feed to find out who the hell did it Brammi 03-13-2007, 02:00 AM Sorry to hear about the car.. thats sucks. but Mine was a little dusty when i opened the box, but nothing major. |
