Default How much TOTAL for a new tC?

I'm getting a tC and I'm being pushed to buy a used one. The car will be payed full in cash so my parents are saying it will be a lot cheaper to buy it used.

However, it is getting tough to find one and I've been looking for a while.

So my question is, how much would I be paying walking out of the dealership if I payed full in cash?

For a new 06 or 07, manual of course.

I also really like the RS3...looking amazing if you ask me. If I were to move in that direction, how much would it be total?

This after taxes, registration, etc etc. The FINAL price...

I've seen used ones go for more than new ones...simply because dealerships rarely have tCs in stock and some people simply don't want to wait.

Look to spend up to $20k drive out, a little more if you want the RS3 and/or upgrade it through the dealership a bit

20k cash?

That's a tough one...but thats probably not far fetched at all.

Question about the RS3...I know they are limited but do most dealerships have them? I'm in SoCal btw.

pfft.. NEVER buy a used Scion...

they are typically priced higher then new ones! and even so.. who knows what the previous owner did to it or how he/she abused it.

the RS3 has about a $2300 mark-up for the package i think? i can't remember at the top of my head.. would need to double check.

dealerships are alloted so many RS cars.... you need to call them to see

Also, the thing about used tCs, well used cars, is if you pay in cash you'll get it for a much cheaper price. True you don't know what the person has done to the car.

You don't have to worry about paying for registration, taxes, etc...

$2300 more for the upgrades. Like I said, used tCs often go for more than new ones from a dealership...I doubt you'll find it cheaper even if you pay cash. You may have some luck going private party...

i don't know about not paying sales tax or DMV fees; I know here in NJ, if the state thinks that you're trying to micky them out of their cut by saying that you paid only a very small amount for the car, they can (and will) assess the car for what THEY think its worth and charge sales tax on that amount. Sales tax on a vehicle is collected when the vehicle is registered.

A new tC with no options will cost around $18k out the door. If you're paying more than 75% of that on a used one, I can't see how it would be worth it.

Also, make sure you don't get yanked for additional warranty packages. Many places will show you starting out with an additional service plan, and then try to upsell you to the super premium. Make SURE you tell them you only want the factory warranty, and nothing additional from the dealership!

It's a nice security blanket until something goes wrong and you find out how limited the extended warranty really is. Let's just say it's not exactly the factory warranty.

I think that depends on your dealer. Also - the extended warranty covers the stock rims. i had one of mine bend due to a pothole and it was replace for free...........so i atleast used it for something ...so far.

You could answer your own question by visiting a few of your local dealer websites. They post their prices and fees. I'm sure you can figure out tax/title by yourself. I paid $18,025 for a 07 flint mica out the door. My dealership offered a $300 "accessory credit" as well, so I got $300 worth of Scion stuff for free. Not sure how that helps you though, since your tax, title/reg, and document fee are going to be different than mine!

ok. used scions are marked up. so they do cost more. but they can be talked down. extended warranties are available. they are better than the factory warranty. i dont know about other dealerships but my dealership is doing a good job. they are honoring the extended warranties and they are better like they promise. you also get the remainder of it on the used car.

for a new scion it's sticker price. either 16990 or 17680 or something like it. forget off the top of my head add sales tax... then title fees and tag/transfer fees. that should be it.

homersapien, what dealer did you go to?

Also, I'm not getting it for a "cheap" price. I'm going to have to retalk this over as some of you do bring up good arguments.

But I won't be paying the DMV fees + taxes if it is listed as a "gift." My family has done this before so I'm sure they know what they are talking about.

However, $18,025? Not bad at all honestly, did you finance it or pay in full? I mean that is about 3 grand more than a used car...
