why does it cost more to buy a used xb than a new one?
i don't mind buying a used one at all. i just don't wanna pay a couple thousand dollars more for someone elses leftovers

because scions are pure pricing, so when sold as new they have to be sold at the price on the window sticker. but alot of people have to wait for for their scion to arrive when they buy a new one, so dealers can charge more for people who want one today for more even it is used.

good things come to those who wait.

They are still sitting on lots here in Central Florida so you may want to start calling around trying to find a new one close to what you want.

They hold their value so well you are better off buying new IMO.

Problem is you better act fast because there aren't many left. They stopped making the 06's in December. The 08's are coming soon but are going to be different. So if you want a new classic times a ticking.

oh yeah. i know already. there's only 5 new ones at the dealerships nearby. and 3 of them are sold in cerritos which is known for screwing people over by jackin up the prices and giving you loads of bs the minute you walk onto their lot. and i don't like the new one. i think it's ugly. it's ugly because its not boxy enough

Buy new if you can find one you want. Besides the fact that used ones are fetching a premium, you'll also have to pay higher interest on a loan for any used vs new car....

The car market is strange in many ways... a good example is how Toyota discontinued da box as its popularity was increasing...

The new model is obviously more Americanized, so it will probably sell well... anybody know the msrp on the new xB? Bet it's considerably higher...

Is that sarcastic? Being that American cars are not selling very well. The only cars selling seem to be foreign (non-Americanized). As far as the new msrp, I asked a couple of dealers and the best they could guess was about $1500 more than the current price. The new ones will be bigger and so will the engine. The gas mileage will not be as good and the box phenomenom may well end.

i think they should've separated it from the xb. now all toyota did was but the xb's great name on a crappy lookin car.

i will be buying the xb2, so i will tell everyone the price when it comes out. i will also be getting it with NO options. to give u the base price.

If you can wait until the new one comes out I have a suspicion that the price will come down a little on the used ones. Someone just posted that they were thinking of buying a used one on a car lot with 25K miles for 10,900---which is not bad.

I wasn't being sarcastic, at all, virgin.

The best-selling cars in America are built for this market-

Many "japanese" cars are actually built here. Not the box...

Near as I can tell, the new xB won't be sold in Japan, at all- they have a whole new bB for that market.

what do you mean by fetching a premium? but anyways i won't be needing a loan...or let's say won't be getting one. all i have to do is wait for my car to be repaired so i can sell/trade it in for the box.

What he means is they are not making the original box anymore. So if you want it , they are going fast.
