Default Who makes the best head unit?

What is the best head unit I can get for under $200? I'm looking for one that will work well with the stock speakers right now and will support the addition of a sub later on. MP3 compatibility is a must.

That's a hard ? to answer. Different people like different things. I'm very satisfied with my Alpine purchase! I have my iPod and SIRIUS hooked up to it and they almost sound as good as a CD. (Through stock speakers even.) Here's some HUs for you...

crutchfield.com

Don't take my word for it. Read the reviews.

If there was a thread, please link me to it since you know about it. That way if someone sees this thread they won't end up with no solution. I did a search and didn't find much, maybe I used the wrong words I don't know. But please don't tell me just to search, I already did. Thanks..

I have an eclipse. I like it alot. Sound quality is great, and because toyota owns them, they are the most compatible with the tc (sw controls for example)

Ya, but for the money, i'd get the cd3000. I used to have it and liked it, but I upgraded to a double-din when I got the money. The 3000 is worth the money over the 2000. Both great products though and you can keep steering wheel controls with em both!)

for under $200 bucks i think that panasonic makes some pretty good ones. When you are looking for higher priced it probably isn't that way, but if your looking for bang for the buck panasonic is pretty nice.

you can get that plus $50 bucks for the iPod adapter and it is still under 200. I have a similar one. It is the c7203u. I paid about 170 for it a few months ago. The prices have dropped a lot. My only complaint if you have a whole lot of artists on your ipod, like say 200+ like i do, it doesn't really have a scroll feature so you have to press the button every time to scroll down the artists instead of holding it down to scroll. I always have it on random anyway though so its cool with me.

Eclipses are nice. Eight volt pre-outs. Alpine makes excellent units as well.

Its all about personal opinion. Many different companies make great head units. Just do some research and decide what works best for YOU. If you want the sw controls w/o a pac adapter, get an eclipse. The alpines are popular and easy to use. Its all about what works for you. Go to a couple stores and look at them for yourself. Circuity city has a fairly big selection. It helps to see it in person,

for under $200 bucks you can't get an Eclipse with 8 volt pre-outs as far as i'm aware. The unit i posted above has 5v pre-outs and its 50 bucks cheaper with a better fm tuner, more eq bands, and more rms output if needed.
alpine is good for ipod, but for under 200 the best you'll find is 2v pre-outs.

Oh, I thought all had 8-volt. Oh well, 5 is still plenty good.
