Default About to cancel tC :(

what was quoted to take 3 weeks, has now taken 6. i mean i know this car is new and in demand but i was told by the salesmen other people that ordered there car the same week as me had their cars for 2 weeks now. there is some problem with the shipping they keep telling me stuff like: its in "shiping status" or "it will probably be here by the end of the week" two ____ing weeks ive been hearing this bull____. i want the car but should have canceled just on the princapal of it all. the car is in the port no more then half a days drive from here. i dont see why they just cant put it on a truck and send it in. any way i have given them a deadline of Tues. if they dont get it by then im gonna get my deposit back and go somewhere else.  i just wondering what the service is gonna be like if i do get the car. there gonna be like "well we went to change your oil, but the oil is on backorder with no E.T.A. but it should be in by sat. latest"

i know its not the dealers fault but it just ddoesnt seem like they are doing much to try to fix the situation.

sounds like your dealer is trying to make you happy, but really what it's doing is making you mad that they aren't keeping their promises.. my dealer here in michigan is saying that the wait is getting close to 60 days (8 weeks).. when i got mine it was 3-4 weeks.. mine showing up on the 4th week.. hang in there.. toyota didn't know the demand was going to be THIS good.. they knew it was going to be good.. but they are blown away..

And to that I say, what did they think was going to happen when they provide such an awesome car, with lexus-like features, and everything is standard.. plus they price it at 16,000??? Forget a Civic for 18,000 why? or a Corolla for 17-18000?? it's hilarious..

oh and about it being in port.. sheesh that's like 7-10 days away.. welcome to the US Government.. or US CUSTOMS.. they take their time.. nothing you can do, just relax

point is.. just hang in there.. your car is coming, you dealer is just a little too eager to say what you want to hear.. i bet in 3 more weeks (at most) your car is delievered.. just relax.. at least you're getting one!!

Cancel and go get something else. Buying a TC was one of the worst decisions I've made in a long time.

Where are you located? I'm San Diego and took me 6 days from deposit to get my car. Black 5spd tC in no time flat. I have to say though, I've been waiting for the time to put a deposit down for about 2 months now - finding the right time when the shipment should be in and it was well worth the wait - I am VERY impressed with the car thus far (200miles).

Car just isn't a quality piece. Starting at 100 miles its been forming all sorts of rattles/noises. Took it to the dealer 4 weeks aog to get it fixed, and they are still waiting on parts. Starting a few days ago, now its squeeks and wistles to go along with the rattles. Every time I drive the car I'm disappointed. It feels like its falling apart. Its had broken parts since day 1 that still haven't been fixed because the dealer can't seem to get them. Also had wierd idle, clutch feels funny, transmission make noises, and all sorts of other issues. Just not what I was expecting from a new toyota. I've had several other toyotas, and none have been anything like this.

sorry to hear that nick.. you know you might want to look into your states lemon laws.. in michigan 3 tries and it not fixed.. you can send a letter to the manufacturer.. then on the 4th time not fixed, they have to buy back the car.. you might want to do that.. since squeaks are the thing that keep happening.. but something to think about (lemon law) to help ya out.. what vin production # do you have? (last 4-5 digits).. (sorry for jacking the thread)

what i've been seeing and talking with other dealers nationwide. it all depends on your region and which dealer you leave a deposit with. not all dealers get the same allocation.

just so people know, 20,000 tC will be built from july to december and 40k next year with a full calendar year. compare that to a corolla or civic and the tC will always be the type of car buyers will end up waiting for. it won't be your typical lets go to a dealer and drive home in the car the same day cause they have every color we want in stock.

Dude, I feel your pain! My dealer quoted me 3 business days. I waited 2 weeks, and it was agonizing! Just be patient. It's really really hard, but you can do it!

Do what I did... search the web for tC reviews. I printed out like 5 different reviews, but Car&Driver is the best, because it's 4 pages long and has their test data on the last page. I studied this car over and over, printed out multiple pictures, and kept going over it.

Also, two new magazines testdrove it, Superstreet and another one, I forget. Just soak in all you can about this car, and when you get it, you'll know more about it than your dealer does!

our demo has 1700 miles and counting and we've never experienced the problems that i see on this board. even customers who have taken delivery of their tC from us the past 3 months has never called to complain. like i said before even if its built by toyota it is not perfect.

also, not all cars are rattle free. heck my 2004 IS has rattles but can only be heard at very low speeds going over bumps. at first i was, this is a freakin lexus what gives its supposed to be the quietest car on the planet. you will always hear noises from a moving part or object.

Default Try another dealer...

I had the same problem ... kept being told that my car was coming. I went to a dealer that by brother-in-law used to work for cause he still had friends there. Sooo I wated and wated. Then they told me my car was in. I got a ride from San Diego to LA (about 100 Miles) to get my car. I found it was NOT not in after waiting around all day. I was kinda stuck in LA. I called around and got the car exact liked I wanted from another dealer. Picked it up 2 hours after I called. Was nice. CABE toyota did the job for me - stayed after closing and everyting to fix me up. Try someplace else. They didn't get your car on time you should get your money back after you find someplace else that has the one you want.

Its time to leave and take your deposit w/ you. If you think about it, its not really the car that sells you on buying(mainly)...but for me, its the salemen and women that help make the buying experience less of a headache! The ones that aren't about seeing how deep your pockets are. It took me 4 trys to finally find the dealership that saw to my needs and expectations.

If this dealership would have realized that just being honest and up front with you from the get go, this wouldn't have put you in the position your in now. Some dealerships are really tarnishing the Scion name and should be reported! Just my .2C.

Take it from those that would agree. It not worth getting all worked up for this car, find another dealership that will help you get what you want without having to beat around the bush!

Did you order one with side airbags? Per my sales guy, the side airbags are coming on very few cars, 5-10% (maybe Rich can confirm that).

Having a rattle or something when going over a bump is one thing, having the car sound like its falling apart as you drive down the highway is another. Its totally unacceptable to have the car do what its doing. The sunroof, rear right, rear center, dash, front door and everything make noise.
