I think it was 1999 or 1998 some where around there. I will let some one else who knows a true time chime in.

2000 was the first time they sold the bB. What are you talking about "first gen/ second gen"? I was in Yokuska in march of 2000, and the Japanese were crazy over the release. From what I remember the only difference was maybe the headlights (they didn't look like ours... maybe they were glass too?)

I got that from https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...ght=generation so I assumed that he was talking about the first gernerationg bB seeing it was in the xB section. I could be wrong seeing you know what they say when you assume

I think that he ment the first year of production rather than "first generation". not quite sure... I am sure that they debut the bB in feb of 00, and I think the ist (xA) was debut in early 02, but not quite sure what month. I wonder if they'll still use the same drive train in the next scion model... probably as it's used in so many cars (only 3 here in the us).

As long as they keep the weight down, I think they will keep using it. I think they should make something like a crx with this engine. With modern building methods I could see a 108HP 1800LB car.

I think the Gen 1 only had a 1.3L 2NZFE engine. While gen 2 made available the 1.5L 1NZFE. Also on the scionlife Gallery, there's seperate categories for gen 1 and gen 2 bodykits.

anyone know then they started the 2nd gen? Perhaps it's a mid model "facelift" (i.e. different headlights and bumpers)?

Yeah something like the echo hatch. If I knew how to photo chopp I would try to but I suck at it . I could see it beeing cheap also. You figure the Echo platform made smaller, so less material = cheaper. Then have a base model that has almost no options for the true car guys. So like the only real thing you would get is a radio, no p/s no a/c, p/w, p/l etc. Then have another model that would have all that stuff added plus abs, traction control & that. I would so buy a car like that if it stayed under $13k for the base model

You mean something like this?

...Introducing the Toyota Vitz (3-Door), It comes equped with the 1NZ-FE along with other engines. So parts from this car is also available for the bB (xB). Our center console (where the shifter is) is from the Vitz.

It also comes in 5-door trim.

Yeah. The only thing I would change though to make it more sporty looking is lower the seating postion some, lower the roof hight & also to get that CRX look slant the back right behind the furthest back seating postion. Now that would be a sweet car. Also offer up the HB here to. The vitz/echo/platz/yaris could bring back what the civic was back in the day, a cheap car that could be come something great.

you realize we get this in North america, right? it's called the echo hatch. I've seen them in canada and mexico, but unfortunately they're not imported to the US. When I said

I knew there was a vitz 3 door, but that's not what I am looking for. I want a 2 seater (vitz/echo 3 doors are 4 seaters) with the same wheel base as the echo hatch, but with a fastback, lower seats (bride?) lower roof line, and a completely differend body than the echo or xA (but still reminiscent of the xA) Don't get me wrong, I love the echo hatch, but I still think they could do a whole lot better for about the same $$
