Default TRD Supercharger Questions

Alright guys this is where i need you the most. Just a couple of questions i need answered before i start saving up for the TRD Supercharger for my 07' Scion tC.

-Is there a website I can find the TRD Supercharger for the 2007 scion tC cheaper then what TRDsparks.com wants for it, which is: $2975.00 (Sale Price)?

-Do you have to use a special intake for the S/C. If so is there any better ones then the one Monster Motorworks provides? (link: http://www.monstermotorworks.com/cgi...&ppinc=search2)

-Whats a good aftermarker header to use with the TRD Supercharger for the 2007 Scion tC?

-If i get the TRD Supercharger what pulley upgrade should I get and what belt also?

Thats all the questions I have for now. Might have more after your answers.

I bought my s/c off TRDsparks way back when and I never found another reputable place that sold it cheaper.

The MMW intake is probably your best bet. It's not going to give you much hp but it might by nice for showing off your car.

The header will help the most out of all the extra mods. I'd recommend alphawerks and coat it with Jet-Hot's Extreme Sterling, will insolate it better than a normal ceramic coating and still have a little bling.

Go with NST if you must get a pulley. All and all you should get seomwhere between 2300-240whp if you have everything including a FULL header back catless exhaust. The power curve is still only going to take off after 4k rpms. You should be pretty happy with the performance. Hope it all holds up.

Thank you. I was thinking buying those headers and a temporary CAI until i buy the Supercharger with the MMW intake. I just emailed my dealer asking him will this void my warrenty if it does that sucks for me cause im doing it anyway whaooo!

trdsparks is where i got mine for. it's probably the best place to get it from too. (i dont think there are that many places that will beat their price)

best intake for s/c? well if u dont want to tune, then get the MMW. if you want the most out of it, you can make a custom intake and tune. i cut my injen cai, and fitted it to my car. will install it once i am ready to tune.

like rob said, header will help u the most of the bolt-ons. if you got the money, get the MMW 4-2-1 header. if you dont want to spend that much on a header, like rob said again, AW header and coat it. and header-back catless exhaust (rob pretty much covered it lol)

and as for the pulley, definitely go with NST! for the 05-06, their best seller is the 9.5lb pulley. however, if you want more, you can ask them and they will make a smaller pulley for more boost if u'd like (will cost some more of course).

just another note, if you want to be trouble free warranty-wise, you probably shouldnt mod the s/c..seeing as how the 05-06 s/c's had MANY problems, you might want to wait a bit to see how the 07s hold up just to play it safe. getting the s/c is a huge investment and you dont wanna blow your safety net in the warranty before you allow some time to pass to find out if any problems should occur.

i'm told that toyota territory sells superchargers for $2300 which is a damn good price i guess..

if you are going to void your warranty anyway, why not just get a zpi stage 0 for 2800 plus the price of emanage, bov, gauges and install?

it doesn't have a warrenty either, but they have been far less problematic.

imo, the only redeeming value of the supercharger at this point is that it has a warrenty so long as you leave the rest of your tc bone stock.

do a search or just browse the forced induction section, there are so many tc owners with supercharger problems both 100% stock, and modified. some have good experiences with their dealerships, some have to buy a new engine because they didn't check their oil everything they filled up with gas.

forced induction, even from trd seems to be a buyer beware business.

The intake should be fine. The problem is you never know how the dealership is going to treat you if anything ever goes wrong.

If there was anything I could do to talk you out of installing a pulley on the blower, I would say it. Most poeple who express interest in swapping pulleys have already made up their mind and will do it anyways. But hey, live and learn.....

Everything everybody said is correct. The header is up to you - i have a strup header w/ sterling jethot. Strup sent it right to jethot and jethot sent it to me. Even w/ that its very hot under the hood. I wouldn't want to run a header w/o it.

Yeah, you're definitely kissing your s/c warranty goodbye. Know that things can (and do) go wrong with the s/c, whether you're uptight or not. As long as you're willing to forfeit your warranty and are okay with the consequences if things go wrong, you'll have fun.

99.5% of the people have zero problems w/ the pulleys. Thats what im sayin about them. I dont know who the .5% are but there is always a chance someone has had a problem ....but stay at 9.5lbs if you arent tuned and you will be fine.

please dont waste your money on the intake.

aw header seems to be the best, dont forget an spipe as well.
nst pulley and get the belt to go with it so you dont have slippage problems.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY GET THE TRD REFLASH even nst says do not run their pulley without it.
Oh and it seems alot of the s/c people uprade the bpv to the next step up bosch or a forge 007.

I thought the mmw supercharger intake made 8whp. That is a significant gain to me for an intake.

the best setup is to remve the bottom half of the airbox, it has the same gains as a 250$ (or w/e it is) intake. I do not trust mmw's ability to accurately calibrate the maf houseing and provide a stable afr.
Toyota knows best, if there was power to be made here without a sacrifice they would have done it.

My custom intake allowed my car to run cleaner. I do not know about how much power it added because I never dyno'd after the install ...but it just runs cleaner. When taking off i can release the clutch and feather the gas and I get a lot cleaner start. I do not like MMW at all. Their customer service is horrible and they just are not an upfront company. With that said ...I still would get their intake because that is the only option out. You could PM garage and speak w/ him asking if he will make a custom intake. Othen then those options .... you have none unless you want to make it yourself. Just make sure you make a mount that holds the filter and its not just hanging there.

zpi has a dyno on there site with the bottom half of the box removed and made some hp. I do not like mmw at all.
