Depends on how you look at it. Sounds like a great investment to me. If the mom was smart she would make him install it himself and then when something goes wrong, make him get a job and pay to fix it.

you could say that, but i doubt the parent that buys nitrous, will make their kid get a job

also how will he fix it if he winds up in a ditch or up a tree, because he couldnt handle it

or blows the engine for not building the iternals to handle such a thing

just speculation of course

Well... I'm guessing that he's going to be running a 35 shot, maybe a 50, but doubt it. A 35 shot should take it into the 15's. I sure hope an 18 year old kid can handle a 15 second car. It's not like the movies where you push a button and Bam! you're doing light speed. Hopefully if he doesn't know anything he bought a dry kit. If he does know something about nitrous he should get a wet, but not DPI. Hopefully he's smart enough to use a WOT switch and maybe a window switch.

Big_Bird
03-22-2007, 03:53 AM
so far he has just bolt on's , and if he didnt get a wet kit, it's just counting the days till that motor goes
i still cant believe a parent would buy their kid nitrous, maybe she figures he wount go that fast, since the vehicle isnt that fast
and i hope he does somehting to the suspension, at least sticky tires, to keep it planted

Why do you all have to be bashing on this guy? He's 18 and his mom paid for the nitrous. So what! Just means he is luckier than some of us. Is he gonna blow the engine? Maybe. But thats his choice cause its his car. I love how everybody on SL is so much smarter and wiser than everybody else...

Good luck with the nitrous man. I hope it works out for you...

i saw an xB put a rod threw the block at 29k on the odo but the driver wasn’t exactly...good, or gentle. the other car i saw blow was an xA on the bottle...spit various internal parts and fluids all over the track. (I think that car was s/c also)

Amen! There are quite a few people on here running a 35 or 50 shot with absolutely no problems. One guy said he went through 20 bottles and is close to 60K miles without problems. When used properly, N20 is just as safe, if not safer, than a turbo or SC.

lmao, everyone knows what nitrous is for. And there is something wrong with a mother buying juice for their childs automobile imo.

I thought so, too...but it appears that Cinder already has a fair amount of knowledge about the internal combustion process...quite a bit more than some of the idiots talking trash in this thread. Yeah, I called them idiots! One of the reasons I do not post very often anymore here is because of these same idiots!

I don't care what your moms cousins brothers friend of a friend says about nitrous. Listen to the guys who run their cars hard and yes, sometimes break em...we know what we are talking about. If you arent breaking stuff you arent trying hard enough.

There isnt anything wrong with fellas that dont know much about cars or how to work on them...they more than likely excell at something else. The problem comes when they watch a movie, or read a magazine and and spread bad advise...stop talking and listen.

When Cinder first PMed me about nitrous he told me he was 17 years old...I didnt pay too much attention to him. When he wrote me that he was ready to buy I also ignored it. In good faith I did not want to contribute to this young guy breaking his car out of ignorance. When his mom called me about it I at first advised her that this may not be the best gift for her to buy him...she then told me about his experiance (which includes building an old Ford Ranchero) and assured me that he was a responsible person and could handle it.

As always I will be fully available over the phone for any tech support that may be needed during the install. Cinder will be calling me at start-up (his mom promised me) and just like I do for any customer I will walk through any and every detail that should be covered. Unlike some other vendors I actually care about my customers and know how to answer their questions. He will be under my wing.

It's a shame most of you cant be supportive to this fella instead of trying to beat him up...of course after being a sponsor to this site for a year at great expence I should know just how supportive we are in this community.

You're acting like you've never gotten anything for your birthday...when I was his age we were too poor for my momma to afford $400, but if she could she woulda.

Have you ever owned a nitrous car? Have you ever owned a 15 second car? I have to wonder, cause these comments lead me to believe you havnt. We should watch out for this fella on the road if he's worried about the overwhelming power of an xB spraying a 25 shot. You say "build internals" like you have done it before...have you? *A 19y/o running a 55 shot....

I've seen plenty...we just replaced one here a couple days ago. Of course that was more than likely the quickest xB I've encountered...much faster than my own blown/ nitroused xB. It was pushed way past it's limits...some people have different priorities.

This owners priority was walking all over cars that thought they were matched against a cheap econobox. I used to follow that car in my own nitroused Mustang just to see the looks on the faces of the unsuspecting drivers that we would encounter.

Some fellas want big rims and loud systems...they also want fuel economy and a reliable car...some of us are competitve and want to outhustle the next guy...there's tradeoffs with everything.

How come everyone's going back and forth on this thread.. and no one mentioned the difference between NO2 and N2O.. come on now. it's here way too much to be a typo.

Because a 17yo's parent's bought him some N2O doesn't mean much. it's not like they bought him a Bussa or an M3. instead of attacking him or his situation, try educating him w.o being degrading.. the decisions made and you're probably not gonna change his mind.

(p.s. if they do change your mind... pm me. i'm thinking about picking up a kit.. lol).

For the rest of you, read whatever you can and be careful. Several guys here in Orlando are running it and definitely turn some heads when doing so.

Shawn is legit. He'd give you the shirt off his back just to help you out. Thanks Shawn. You've always been a great supporter to anyone out there looking for help. I really appreciate that about you. You taught me how to drag race...so I owe you a lot. Also, being someone who sells these kits and not trying to make money but rather help out in the scion community says a lot about what you are here for.

I would love to run nitrous, but honestly, I don't have that kind of money to throw around on it right now....especially with a pending court date for that speeding ticket lol. If others have the money for the kits.... then I'm there to help encourage them to live my dream.

I know a lot of people are curious about running nitrous in their cars.... keep chatting up these threads and make the decision for yourself. If you are ever in the Orlando area...hit us up....We can show you whats up.

My favorite was the Devry show when the Nitrous tC lined up against the TRD supercharged tC.... needless to say... the nitrous tC walked away and turned ALOT of heads doing so.

Hey man, just brush it off your shoulder. Haters are gonna hate and have a hard time changing. Big Birds at least got some big enough eggs down there to correct his mistake.

Post some pics after you get it installed

the only ToMo motor that I've ever seen blow under 100k miles, was an xA on the juice.

The guy I knew, wasn't that smart about some stuff. He's a cool guy, don't get me wrong, and I'm not gonna mention any names, but...He was filling bottles all the time, and he'd redline it HARD, that's how he blew the motor. (from what I heard)

what the hell. why does everyone have to yell at me and call me a kid. why do thay have to think that im gunna crash or blow the motot? why do they have to say that i dont know what im doing and im just some spoiled kid?! im 18 now i know what im doing, ive been behind the wheel of a dragster runnin 8.90's since i was 8 you #$$holes. i know the consequences of nitrous, i know what can happen, but i also know how to work on a f#%*ing car, when all the other little kids were in their trailes eating and watching tv i was outside helping my dad tear apart the block on that little motor to rebuild it after the season so i could know how to work on it. im not stupid im not a kid, hell im probably one of the most mature people my age you could meet, and i know getting mad at people for what they say isnt mature, but im so tired of it. im so tired of everyone knowin more than anyone else. I know how to race/drive, and i wont be doin any "street" racin bull with the nitrous. i have to comute from hemet to beaumont, and could use a lil help gettin up lams canyon, and btw, im only runnin like a 20 shot, like i said in the second post you idiots learn to read. Thanks for you who stuck up for me, especially shawn, i havent talked to him in person yet but he's a great guy who was really helpful, and he already warned me of how negative everyone is, i shoulda known, people are just so disapointing.:(Everyone was saying all that because you were 17. I don't know how many knew about your background, but I for one did not...You are still a kid (I'm ten years older than you) But you also seem to be very mature. I'm sorry for everyone that got on your case.

Cinderblock, you will love the N2O. I am currently running a 40 shot and the xb handles it well and it really moves the car!

BTW, Shawn is awesome!! I didn't even buy my kit from him and he still answers my questions when I have them.

Congrats on the kit. Whether mom bought it or not, the fact that you are the one who is installing it means more.
I'm thinking about picking up 35 shot myself, haven't decided yet.

My 9 year old has been racing pocket rockets for 2 years, the one we got at the house for play has a 5hp (wippit) shot on it, I hope when he turns 18 he's still just as interested as you are and I will gladly set his ride up for spray. We get crap all the time from people seeing his little butt on the bike, but I tell you what, give him 5 minutes to show his stuff and you become a believer. He helped install the bigger carb, the cold air, the big bore head kit, and mini NOS set up. As power grew so did his knowledge of the engine and how to handle it. So given my expierience with my kid (yes mom is ok with it) I can totally see how you get the same support. Congrats on the spray! Let us know how it GOES.

lol i have it in for the most part, waitin for the silicone around the nozzle adapter in the intake to dry so it doesnt get all dirty puttin the intake back on. i only know of one place to fill the bottle, so itll still be a few days before i can get it filled lol. il delete some pics off my phone and go take pics right now guys. thats sweet streetlethal

k well after a few days i have to say its pretty sweet. theirs a really cool little whistle when its activated, and you can tell wen the bottle is cold, like the last few days, becuase it doesnt seem to have as much pep, lol, so my next thing'll be a bottle heater system. but all in all, the kit rocks, passing, and pullin out of driveways on streets is easier now lol.

im one of da competitive guys out there dat wants to outhustle the next guy that thinks he faster then my econobox with somewhat big rims and a somewhat loud system but never economical :P

Looks great Cinder...is that a Ny-lock nut welded to the intake for a bung? Was there a problem with the compression bung with the kit?

Now you need to call me for my free 3k rpm launch mod! These cars scoot off the line so much better than the manual cars that you'll end up surprising quite a few "better" cars on the street.

I have an awsome heater system that's pressure controlled and works great, but doesnt look stupid like the blankets most others offer. It's fully automatic and very easy to install. Most fellas forget about bottle pressure...with a heater the pressure stays the same no matter how much nitrous you have in the bottle and the bottle actually "seems" like it lasts longer because it doesnt drop performance the more you use it.

I'm also working on a trick control panel for the master arm, heater, purge, and gauge in Nikki's new car. It'll mount right in front of the rear view mirrow. If you want I'll send you a drawing...switches and gauges are cool if they have purpose.

Oh, ill deff take everything you mentioned man, i thought i was gunna be in trouble for not gettin ahold of you, but i did leave you a voicemail so i called like promised lol. ya i really would like the heater for that o so sweet constant pressure lol.

Oh btw no its not welded, its the compression fitting, but i had to use a step bit to make the hole big enough, so it was lil oversized, but only a lil, its just smoothed out silicone to prevent leaks, and just has some dirt on it cuz i have a rally track in my back yard that i tried for the first time hahahaha.

Dude i would love that launch mod man, and i have 500 or so in my bank account, but i got caught in a sorta speed trap on way to river and got a 90 in a 70 zone on the 10 freeway :,( so thatll be around 440 after fine and traffic school, that my first ticket ever, wasnt even juicin it lmao.

But once i get money agian ill deff be callin you.

also after i juice, since the intake is colder the car really seems to still have pep until it heats up agian, or is it just me?

o haha i thought about that i called you lol. yeah your kit is really easy to install, the only problem i had was wit the wot switch, it didnt wana mount int the right spot it took like 2 hours haha. how much would the heater an launch mod cost? and can i beat a tc wit my 35 shot lol, i wanted to race someone in the car club i part of lol

Kapthowdy
04-19-2007, 02:38 PM
launch mod is free...just call me and I'll explain it. The heater system complete with pressure switch, heater bands, switches, and all wiring and conectors will run you $180 shipped. It's the best looking and performing heater on the market.

There's a couple xBs here that beat stockish tCs NA...there's no way to tell until you run em. Give it a shot and let us know how it turns out.

Looks good man, where is the bottle exactly? ^^i wanna know that too, or do i have to buy a kit from ya. Cause i will.

Just out of the blue, did you paint your car or was it like that.

Kapthowdy
04-19-2007, 08:03 PM
looks like the bottle is in the rear hatch area on the passenger side.

As far as the launch mod is concerned, it's real simple. I usually share everything, but there's way too many "SL Experts" here that have given me or my company flack. Send a PM and I'll let you in on it.

As far as the kit, you should go ahead and get one anyways...they cost a little more than others, but they are worth it. Quality and customer service are number one with me...there have never been any threads complaining about my products, or asking for tech help or install questions. I stay with it till the end.

So did it make a huge difference?

Cinderblock
04-23-2007, 03:08 PM
yes the 35 shot makes a huge difference especially when bottle full, even when it cold outside, the tires will squeel a little throught first even when hitin after 3500 rpm haha. the tranny does have so trouble keepin up tho it seems, but not to bad tho. i had it painted red, i like it much more than the greeen it was. ill pm you about the launch mod, i hardly have time to call anyone. and ill buy that heater as soon as i get the ok from mom, just to make sure i still have enough to pay for dat stupid ticket :(

Just installed the Ny-Trex 4 & 6 Wet Nitrous Kit. I will post pics where I have everything mounted tomorrow.

Installed the 35 shot first. It was ok. But the 50 shot is a lot better. In 7 days I have gone through 5 tanks. I tooke compression readings before the install on each cylinder and after the 5 tanks and there is no change.

Once I finish up with the air bag suspension installation I will get the dyno results.

In the last two weeks we have installed the following.

Perrin Light Weight Crank Pulley.
Fujita Cold Air Intake, But now have changed it to the Short Ram Intake
Header
Grounding Kit
Greddy Cat Back Exhaust
Voltage Stabilizer
Perrin Fuel Rail
Ny-Trex 4 & 6 Wet Nitrous Kit (50 Shot)

I have tried to hide the nitrous kit and the air bag switches.
I have have pics tomorrow.
