Default extended warranty... worth it?

hey all...

i bought my bsp 07 tc today! so excited. wanted to ask... did anyone bother with an extended warranty? it's an additional $1129 for a 7 yr/70k miles warranty (car comes with 3 yr/36k). i went ahead and got it, but have 30 days to cancel and get a full refund.

think it's worth keeping? since the tc isn't even that old, there's not much of any history i can go by to determine what kind of mechanical problems i could encounter in the next 7 years.

I wouldn't think it would be necessary. I would imagine that anything thats gonna go fatally wrong would go wrong before the original warranty is up. Anything that they're willing to cover anyway.

I still got it though just to be on the safe side. I'm a bit overly cautious sometimes.

Just letting you know that your powertrain warranty is 60K/6yrs.
And your exhaust warranty is 80K/8yrs.
Basic warranty is 36k/3yrs

I don't think it's worth it. Plus, some components that fail might not be covered under the extended warranty. Depends which warranty you buy. The Platinum care package covers most components. You'll have to check on their list. Heads up.

well i got it, but for different reason . . . they cut me a deal cuz it was the salesman first sell, and he had no idea what he was doing. so instead of like 11% they gave me like 7% with the 7 year 100K . . . and it lowered my payments by like $10/month

neway im glad i got it cuz like you said the tc is a newer car and who's to say something wont go wrong before 100K, they also gave me the plan where there is $0 detuctable so all the better

Always owned a toyota, never had any problems, extended warranty not needed. There is a reason why most american manufacturers and hyundia offer such a big warranty, cause THEY NEED IT LOL

if you don't get the extended warranty, nothing will go wrong and the car won't show symptoms of a problem till mile number 36,001. Lol, I got the warranty only because my dad wanted me to, otherwise, I wouldn't bother with it.

Ok, i went with the extended warranty and i recommend it 100%!! Yeah "it's a toyota" and all but...stuff happens and it's usually unexpected. It's always better to be prepared...You wouldn't even notice it in your monthly anyway. It's always good to be safe...write that down

do you mean "better safe than sorry"?

my dad had a toyota pickup for as long as i can remember... it waas my grandfathers then he sold it to my father. the entire bed rusted off. the fenders were gone. the hood looked like swiss cheese. it had about 275-300k before he gave it to my uncle who kept it for another 2 years. never once did it ever have a mechanical problem. if you saw this truck you would understand my faith in toyota. i might have a picture... if i can find it ill post it in here.

i love toyotas and all but when your paying so much money for a car and your making payments on it, why would you put yourself at risk. ITS A CAR S**T happens. what happens if something goes wrong at like 70K and 4 years. you still have another year to pay it off and now you have to fix it . . . what do you do.

you CANNOT expect EVERY car to last 275-300k

my salesman even told me not to get the extended warranty, he explained how toyota was the first car to reach a million miles, and a toyota was the second car to reach a million miles, and mine could be the third lol. nice sales pitch

but...i dont think the extra money for the warranty is worth it, like a lot of ppl have said, it a toyota, toyota manufacturers great cars

I wouldn't get the extended warranty unless I reach past 60K.

Agreed^^

have any of you heard about the tests they did on toyotas? they are similar to the new tundra commercials, but much more extreme. they took this toyota truck... i dont know which one, and put it on top of a building. then they blew up the building, uncovered the truck and it started like it was the first time. then they completely submerged the same truck under salt water for a week or something...pulled it out... and it still ran. there was a series of tests... i dont remember what else. ill youtube it and post it if i find it.

there is always a chance of somethign happening... bu if it doesent happen within the first three years... chances are nothing will.

I bought the platinum plan for $1200 that covers to 8yrs/100k miles. It was their most comprehensive plan. My previous car was a Honda and most repairs happened after 80k miles. I saved somewhere around $4000 in repairs with that warranty.

BTW, my warranty can be fully refunded after it expires as long as it isn't used, or prorated for what is used. Most plans are like this. I have not heard of a 30 day grace period to cancel. You should be able to cancel anytime before it goes into effect with no penalty.

I got the warranty. I chose the platinum 7 year/110k though. Yes, it IS a Toyota. Hopefully I will neber need it. BUT IF I do it will be money well spent. Remember cars are machines...anything can happen.....albeit with Toyota the odds are in your favor but I like the security.

Oh yeah plus I got a heck of a deal on it....pays to have a cool finance guy!

BY THE WAY!!! ***** ONLY GET THE TOYOTA EXTENDED CARE!!! Avoid any other company that offers the warranty...they are not NEARLY as good.*****
