Default Repeat Problem With wheel liner, and 18's with h Techs!!

OK! so i made a post about this awhile ago, I am running Htechs with my Stock 17's for the winter right now, Before that i had 18's 18x7.5 with a 35offset

I have replaced both Front Wheel well/plastic things? about 3 times now, and there expensive, about 135 each, from toyota.

what seems to happen is that my rims, Rub the Plastic and it burns holes threw it after awhile, then the screws fall out, and it starts to sag onto the rubber of the rim, Im guessing its because Streets in NY ARE RIPPED UP! from the plows n such.

Its annoying, and now i have my 17's on for winter, and the driver side has done it again, its starting to fall back onto the tire..

Can i pull the front ones off? Will this give me problems? The back ones are off, Because the guy who put my 18's said they rubbed in the back.

Can i do the same with the front? With out messing my car up, lol

You have rubbing problems with the 17's too? I'm surprised you're rubbing at all...

They dont rub, on flat roads, but dips, and bumps, it deff does!

So the only problem is my engine bay will get more dirty?

any Draw backs to this?

im running stock 18's with a 2inch drop and it only rubs a lil bit. how low is ur drop, and doo you have stock struts, if so buy aftermarket struts or new springs. i had to buy ground controls cuz im to poor for coilovers haha.

I have to agree. It sounds like you had a very aggresive drop and you blew out your struts. I have the TRD drop and I am nowhere close to rubbing with 17's. I plan on getting 18's soon , and it looks like I will still have some breathing room.

just the springs for now. not enough cash flow at the time of purchase for the struts. I will go with a nice strut after I wear out the stock ones. So far the ride has been really good. rear sway is one of my next mods for sure!

your intake will be breathing that dirt as well, what size tire is it ( 35' 40' 45' 50')

I wouldn't take the front or rear ones off because you're going to get a lot of water and moisture in there, or worse, salt, that will rust them out. Like someone else suggested, your struts are probably blown out from the drop. Are you running stock struts? Is your alignment off at all?

A fast way of checking is to bounce the front of your car by pushing up and down on it. Bounce it a few times, and then stop, if the car keeps on bouncing, then your struts are toast.

Good struts will stop bouncing as soon as you stop pushing on it.

Probably wouldn't hurt man. I mean if you are rubbing in the front it's just a matter of time before the rear goes too. Cheaper in the long run to do it all at once. They are just like anything else on your car, it's all about how much you want to spend. But that said, I would go with a "performance" strut because they are designed to be on cars with a lowered stance, and that way you don't lose any travel. That is why the stock ones probably blew out, they're travel was being maxed out constantly.

this doesn't sound right at all. i have 19 x 8.0 in the front and 19 x 9.5 in the rear with h .tech's also and i have only minor rubbing when i go over bumps. if you have rubbing with your 18's it sounds like it's something else causing this.
