Well, winter is coming faster then I want it to, *ah the transition from beach babies to snow bunnies* and I'll be getting the xB sometime in November/December. During this time, it isn't unusual for it to snow here.
I was wondering how the stock tires behave in the snow. Anybody recommend a good set?
And finally... I'm going to get 215/40/17s with Sacchi wheels. Should I hold off until winter has passed to put them on or go ahead an do everything and buy some chains?
*i'd drive without chains, but Stevens/Snoqualmie Passes is usually manitory to drive with chains during heavy snowfall :roll: *

I live in Western NY and our winters are some of the worst. Although I personally didn't have my xB at that time, the salesman I purchased from had an xB to evaluate over winter '03-04 and he said the stock all-season tires, combined with the traction features of the xB allowed him to get through a rough winter with no troubles.
I feel pretty confident that my box will make it through without any problems. I avoided lowering my car and getting bigger rims/smaller tires because of the upcoming winter.
If you have 6 inches of snow on the ground, how can a lowered xB handle that? I'd imagine the local government should reimburse you in that case for plowing the road!

I'd rock the stockers through the winter. The chains might damage the Sacchi wheels. Also, I don't know what they use on the roads up there, but here in Nebraska they use salt, and I deffinately wouldn't want to run ANY aftermarket rims in the salt. Not to mention, you just might lose it and smack a curb. :shock: Better to do so with the stock steelies, you can fix bent steelies pretty easily, I'm sure aftermarket alloys are another story.
can't forget about the liquid ice melt thats even worse then the regular ice melt :|
