We all know that Kekai has been without his car for a few. So I'm proposing a reminder thread for him. This thread will be for folks to tell them what they did with their xB's today or yesterday (one that they actually have in their driveway).

Please keep things sensative and nice, so he can remember what it was like to actually have one of these cars sitting in his driveway. Ya know, being able to look out the window and see the car that you own.

I'll start...

Yesterday I washed my car (all shiney and stuff), polished my wheels and wiped down my door jambs (gotta do that with a white xB, otherwise washing it is a waste of time).

I headed down to Eugene, the back route (ya the one with all the bugs that appear to want to kiss your windshield). I drove "my xB" about 5 mph below the speed limit, so I could get a good following of other cars (it's really the only time I feel like a leader).

Anyways I drove "my xB" to couple stereo shops to look at amps and other non-essential/soon to be essential items, went to eat and headed home.

Anyways, I'll end by saying, it's good to have an xB, isn't it..lol...

So, I think just keeping it to xB's is a little unfair. I purpose that we open it to all cars. We are all friends right.

KaKia,

If you had your car you can have fun with your neighbor 's cats like I do with my tC.

The neighbor's cat likes to come place his bum on my hood and enjoy the heat from the engine. Well, I like to play a game called scare the ____ out of the cat with the car alarm.

My xB, Vanilla, is sitting patiently in the carport, waiting for me to take her shopping for the last few remaining parts I need to get so I can put some of those spare switch positions to use.

I showed my xB off to people who were curious about my car. I also had to tell someone, again, that it wasn't a hybrid.

*sigh* Every self respecting message board in the world has that poking icon. We surely are missing the basics here.

I went to Lincoln Square today (across from Bellevue Square Mall) and was returning to my car when I encountered a very very ritzy eastside woman getting out her BMW. I unlocked my car door and she said with a huge smile "I really like your car"

I was like SCORE! a 50 something year old woman who has some major bling on her ears and very nicely dressed loves my car. I thought it was pretty neat to have some eastside bmw woman driver compliment my car.

Got back from an equipment shopping trip to Seattle with 12 chairs from IKEA, a bunch of other fun IKEA goodies, assorted equipment for dispensing ice cream syrups, my suitcase, a folding camping mattress, blankets, and room for my sister. It was sweet!!! And I still had room to look around and see out all the windows. Yep, I LOOOOOOOVVVVE my xB!!!

Well Kekai;

Yesterdays road trip consisted of hitting up my insurance company for info on my car, another stereo shop and the bank. Then my daughter and I took a road trip out to Sweethome (the backroads again), stopped at a rock museum (not a music deal, more like... out of the earth rocks). Then we swung back through Lebanon to see my sister for a few then back to home.

Nothing to outrageous. But driving through Sweethome was like driving through a time warp. That town, for the most part is like 10 years behind the norm. It was like the day I bought the car, lots of finger pointing, gaping mouths and confused looks.

Sweethome rests right at the base of the Cascade mountains and is one of the remaining big logging towns. So needless to say, it's 4X4 country. A safe town if your a guy and sporting a 6 month old beard and a flanel shirt or if you are a girl, missing a few teeth, sporting the "auqa-net" do and and a beer belly to match your mans.

Up early this morning getting ready for the Portland trip. My nephew (5 years old) has a wrestling tourney just a couple miles from Gresham show, so I'm going to shoot up there and watch him wrestle and then head over to the Toyota dealership.

Cleaned the interior of the box today, figured I might as well as long as I had the instrument cluster, center dash, and glovebox ripped out. :) Got my little "mod" done - no big deal, but it makes me a lot happier.

I have a kinda bad shoulder so reaching backwards around the driver's seatback to turn on the dome light is a real pain - literally!

So what I did is put in two of the Gardner-Bender GSW-45 switches that pop right into the dash center console, and wired the drivers side one up to the door lock controller harness where it runs the dome light. Now when I want to turn the dome light on I just hit the switch on the dash. (The dome light still works normally, too, of course.)

What did I hook the other switch up to? Nothing. I'll think of something it needs to do, though. :)
