A few weeks ago April and I visited Savanna Georgia with HTSA a Consumer Electronics buying group that we are associated with. HTSA has several of these trips each year around the country. This trip has a lot of history and tons of fun, well, second to the Maui trip! :lalala:

Savannah is rich in history, industry and fun activities for all the family. This is a port of call for old time sailing ship, when the ships arrived they unloaded the ballast. While this piled up the city took the rocks “ballast” and built streets, walkways and buildings were built from off loaded ballast.

Today this port is now the fourth largest in the country and another 30 thousand acres are being built to handle more ships. The Westin hotel across the water way is fifteen stories tall and these ships dwarf the hotel. :doh: The new Sky way bridge was rebuilt to handle the big ships, it was not high enough and had to be raised another 85 feet. :nails:

Other industries are Caterpillar and a very luxury Yacht builder. The yacht in the bay is about $150 Million, the other Yacht on the water way that is 5 stories tall and has the helicopter on top of it. Stopped in for a $5 Million dollar paint job!! :nails:

The homes and history during the war periods is long and very interesting. Most of the homes you see are being rebuilt at a cost of 1 Million dollars. A lot of the rod iron was removed during the early years and buried. It was known during the warring periods that many of the commanders would burn entire towns. The iron works were buried to protect them.

I have also included a number of pictures of the Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church. Note the stain glass, high structures, paintings on the walls and ceiling. Then the organ on the second level is one of the largest I have ever seen.

The party in the town center with drinks and appetizers before heading across the street for dinner. Dinner was held at the oldest house in the town, it has several rooms upstairs and down stairs. The basement has the bar and the entertainment, the Pink House is known for its food, the catfish and steaks are great. The house is haunted.

Last but not least, we are off to the airport to come back home. :clap:

I never though Savanah, Ga was that cool. Your pics say it all. They history lesson was awesome to just as good as watching the travel channel

The helicopter and the yacht were pretty crazy, nice to have that kind of dough. The trip was a blast and even more history than I have even touched on. We left a day early as on Thursday 300 thousand people were coming into to town for St. Patrick day. The 4th largest population of Irish in the country.

It was a blast, the shrimp was not the only thing that was awsome!! I had to eat grits every day, miss having real southern cooking.
