hey guys...i was wondering if any of your tC's came with this hideous
black plastic fender wheel lining? i think it's attached by double-sided tape.
i want to remove it but dont know how to go about doing it.

here's a picture of them...

is that like that chrome sh*t ricers use? If so you might be f*cked cause i heard that glue doesnt come off for nothing?

well i just got back from the dealer and they said they can take
it out but would charge. so i figured some of you guys have done
this yourselves.

i think its the same material they use to stick the "tC" emblem
on the back. ive been told u can use a blowdryer and floss to
remove it or just a plain fishing line.

heat it up and just try to get your finger nail under it and pull really slow. Then take Goo Gone and remove the adhesive. If it's the same double sided tape as the rear emblem, it should be no problem getting it off

that organge stuff removes everything... the goo gone... kind of fades the clear. but if your good about it you can pull it off.

DAKINE: it's a brand new 2007 tC straight off the lot. i wanted a white one and it was the only one they had. i have never seen those linings on any other tC. stupid wondries.

thanks for the help guys...ill get this crap off asap today.

that's very odd. AFAIK Toyota doesn't stick those on at all... plus look at it, it looks like some 6 year old stuck it on (look at all the space on the right side).

Your dealer didn't have anything to say about it?

some cars come with it, and its not to hard to remove.

just use automotive adhesive remover to take off any remains.

heat up the lining so that the glue behind it gets workable then either use floss or your fingernail, then begin to pull it off. im sure you will get some residue left behind, but thats where you use the adhesive remover, just wipe it over wherever the residue is and it should go away.

no marks or anything will be left, unlike goo gone which leaves a hazy coat after your done with it.

haha, thats cuz goo gone is acidic, it eats away your clear coat. :) 3M gum wax and adhesive remover is the stuff to use.

i can't really tell from the blurry pics, but i know my car only has the plastic wheel well lining, no additional application. thats weird.

Personally, I just use wax, a microfiber cloth, and some elbow grease when I need to get rid of adhesive residue. Sure it takes more work, but there is very little risk to the paint.

it was a lot easier to remove than i thought. i just ripped it off
using my hands. no need for blow dryer or floss.

and for the residue, just rubbed it off with my fingers.

but yeah, i have no idea why the dealer would put that.
