I dimmed the X and left the outer leds alone. Kind of hard to tell in the pic, but I'm sure it would look aright at night.

Is the square pattern too plain?
I want to go with something different. But there isn't too many modded stock tails out there, so its already different.
What do you folks think about leaving them a sliver color? I was thinking about painting them black(just the housing not the lens), but after seeing them the way I have them now. If I repaint it silver, it will seem like its more of a clear tail.

haha nice! im proud of you scotty!!!! :-)
you are definately doing your own thing here and that rocks. i dont think ive ever seen an "X" pattern tail light. i say go for it!
can you extend the X to the top and bottom edges of the tail/brake light section?
what about an X for running lights and then when you apply the brakes, a square that goes around the whole outer edges around the X lights up... ah i dunno but i definately like that yur going for it with this project!!! im still waitin for my ordered LEDs to get here :-(
Best of luck to you on this!!!

Yeah, I pretty sure I can extend the X. I just started small and with an even number of leds. Makes it easier too take the leds out and try different things.
I'm really starting to lean towards the X pattern right now. I'm going to mock it up again and try a couple of things with it.
I thought for sure you would have your leds by now. I just ordered mine a week or so ago and there already here as you can see. I can't wait to see your finished product. Its going to be bright as hell.

Yeah I'm going to tweak them more when I do a final product. As soon as I decide what to go with
I was thinking of doing that, but it would kind of clash with the bB badge.
Thank for the suggestions.

What kind of LEDs are you using again? are they the standard round flanged kind?

or are you using a different type?

In the last pics I'm using some like that around the X. Wide angles are the X. I need to order more leds now cause after I ordered them I came up with the X idea. Plus after seeing yours I got jelous on how bright they are. I wasn't going to go that extreme, but now I want to.
