Auto ZPI Stage 0
I'm kinda of nervous about getting a turbo for my auto. I'm worried what will happen down the road with my car, i hear that people have problems down the road with the turbo. I'm sure people have asked this before but should I get the turbo anyways or should i start with engine work first? if i don't start engine work first what should i worry about if i go straight to the turbo? because the price on the ZPI stage 0 looks pretty good right now. $2199.00. Advice please?
very few people have had problems with turbo's on their tc's. trust me here, i am planning on boosting myself and spend loads of time digesting everybody's turbo experiences on scionlife.com
get a zpi stage 0 turbo with tuned emanage, a bov, and boost, wideband 02 sensor and egt, and it should be fine. maybe even a greddy pressure sensor for more advanced tuning.
next up is maitenance. you have to take the time to regularly check your engine for leaks, or bad seals, it is best to change to a synthetic oil and get oil changes every 3000 miles instead of 5000. and you will probably have to use 91 octane gas.
your tc will be fine if everything is installed properly and you don't constantly beat it everyday.

and yes i made that sticky last year sometime it should answer all of your question. if you do have anything specific just pm me n ill answer em for you.
i think the auto tranny starts slipping once you go over a certain amount of power..i think 220whp? it wont be able to shift under high boost, so you would have to let off the gas, allow it to shift, then give it gas again.

E you sold the tC??????? and picked up a MS3?
Sold my tC last week. Sad to see it go -but that's the way the story goes sometimes. I messed up the tranny (it was slipping in 2nd and 3rd) had it fully re-built -but it never felt the same as stock. I did the valve-body mod as well. It seemed like the ECU was able to undo the valve-body at lower RPM's. Once the RPM's picked up the tranny held the gears very well.
My family situation is in a state of change. I just did not see me getting a car-seat in and out of a coupe for the next 4-5 years!
So I got the tC back to stock and traded 'The Machine' for an 07 red Mazda Speed 3. The speed 3 is my first stick-shift car and it's got 6 of them! So far I like my new car. Even with the stress of learning how to shift smoothly...I think it was a good decision.
