Does anyone know of what kind of places might want to take on a project of transforming my regular doors to doors like on a lamborgini? Not the kind like on a Delorian(I think they are called Gull Doors) :?:

Thanks. Do auto body shops do this kind of stuff. If so would it be as expensive as these kits or ???? I think this would really set my car apart from others but at the moment I don't have 2 grande to drop. Already have dropped about 4  This might be a future project.

Awsome. Hopefully it isn't to much trouble. I figure the hardest part might be re-wiring the door. And hopefully I have someone to help me take the door off. I can see me dropping it now :o

I really want to try and get a door pop on it. Im not sure exactly what I need. Someone said I need a shave kit. I thought I could somehow have a door pop attached to the unlock wire in my door so when it unlocks it then is popped. Im not sure how to do this or what type of places could do this kind of work.

as far as setting the door poppers to open with your unlock . . .. .it kinda the same thing because when you shave your handles it doesnt matter if it is unlocked because noone without your remote can get into the vehicle anyways. . .. . .so the doors dont have to lock just undo the lock mechanism and reprogram your remote to handle the solenoids from the poppers. . . .i have done this many times works great!

woo can you put this in terms I understand. :) I thin I am still confused what shaving is. I mean yea I do it to my face but what about my car? :) someone said shaving is just taking your handles off your door basically. Personally I don't care if the handles are there. I just want the door to pop open and come up.

Currently i have an alarm in my car. So it is possible to program that remote to pop open the doors? I didn't want to have to have 2 remotes. :

shaving your doors is just taking off your handles and making a patch to fill that hole in and cleaning it all up real nice...shave it smooth like your face...you really dont have to do that tho with what you want to do
also with the poppers all you have to do is unhook the outside door handle from inside of the door so that it doesnt work anymore...then you put the popper (solenoid) on and hook that up to an accessory button on your remote and when you hit that button your doors will open right up
pretty straight forward process and not really that difficult to do...mostly just the wiring is a pain...if you have a general knowledge about electronics you should be able to do this yourself
email or pm if you have any other questions

First off for the lambi doors visit visionautodynamics.com they have a kit for the xB. It costs $1,399 and includes all of the hardware and the hinges. For the shaved doors. what happens is the regular door handles are removed and then the holes are filled in with a new sheet of metal that is painted and all to match your car. I will look as if you never had door ahndles to begin with. The doors are opened then by magnets that can keep the door shut or "pop" them open when you want to get in or out.

So how do the doors lock? With the regular lock on them. Sorry I am asking so many questions I feel liek I am goign in circles. For whatever reason this is confusing to me.

there is no lock.. closed is locked, with no handels no one can open the unlocked doors... you use your remote but instead of it unlocking your doors it pops the lactch to open the door so you can get in.

there has to be a lock :) even if a door doesn't have handles anyone can walk up and grab the window sil and pull it open couldn't they. I don't really want to do that when I got thousands of dollars worth of stuff inside.

You said it pops the latch so the latch would in a sense be the lock that holds the door shut.

Correct, the latch is pretty much your lock. One thing do suggest is to wire an emergency switch to the vehicle just in case your remote dies or something goes wrong with the wiring. You can put it in the fender wheel or under the side skirts or somewhere that you can't see from plain view.

Leave the front doors and suicide the back. I've got a buddy that did an old 4 door accord like that and turned out really nice. In the event that you want the door popper kit would definatly recommend that you get an autoloc kit.

I am thinking about suiciding the back doors once the lambos are in. THat is something I would definately have to have someone do. Cause i htink that would take some serious modifications to the door and frame that you wouldn't be able to do with a bolt on kit.

Nope definatly no bolt on kits for suicide doors, you can buy pre made hinges but that's about it. I had them on my f-150, it's fun but does take some work.

:? I think Lambo doors would look better on the tC. I find cars that have short doors dont look good with a Lambo style. You need that long door with a short hight for it to look good. That 1 guy who has pics, it looks like it would be a PITA to get in & out of. I would probably run my head into the door or something. Just my $.02

I know that the opening to get in the car looks really small but I am 6'2 260 and its really not that big of a deal. I don't struggle to get in and i got used to getting in it already.

I guess thats good then. From the picture it looked a little small. Must be the angle it was taken at. I take it that the doors not only open up but also angle out some right?

BIGShawn

Yeah the doors still open regular but only about half way because when the door goes up the door panel has to clear the pilar. when it was first installed it was rubbing the pilar so it had to be tweaked a little.

we found that the doors opened only 12-14 inches before needing to be lifted up....

This guy is absolutely right.. I think lambo doors on an xB are nuts! It looks like someone ripped off your door and its hanging in space, it's not fluid at all. Shouldn't you do things that suit the vehicle?

Yes the front doors only open to about 13". But it does keep larger ladies out of the front. :) The rear doors first stop is about 13" so they both open about the same to that point.

Love it. I got a killer deal on mine. The boost hits about 3000 and pulls strong all the way to redline. One thing the redline gets there very fast. I am putting my SPEC stage 3 clutch (check out their link below, they have a lot of clutch setups for our xBs) and maybe a header in before I head to the dyno.

do you have a boost gauge??? watch what boost you get with the header
and the clutch will help (i bet the stock one is slipping....)

Yah I talked to Glenn and he went from 7 to 11psi with a header. They snapped a half axle on the dyno. So I may look into heavier half axles if I am going to be running it hard.

I think lambo doors look best on convertibles. I'd possibly think about it on a coupe, but on a 4 door hatchback? If you're trying to set your car apart, you might want to try something different. At almost every car show I've been to, at least 1/2 the cars have lamborghini doors. It's gotten to a point where you can have motorized amp racks, laborghini doors, complete carbon fiber bodies, air bag suspensions and still not stand out... it's gone so far that we've wrapped around and trying to stand out means either making your car ugly or leaving it stock...

Maybe someone can come up with a true gull-wing door setup.

It wouldn't be bolt on, but if you tied both doors together, and got rid of the b-pillar (much bracing would need to be done), you'd have a very original look.

Or mold in the back two doors, panel it out, and then suicide the front doors.
