I started getting this clunking sound from the rear when I would lift it from full drop. I changed the shocks and am still getting the clunking sound. So I think that the rear is lifting up too fast for the shocks causing the sound. I found these and think they should do the trick. I was wondering if anybody has used these before?

you can do the same thing with ball valves from lowes, and they are like $5 a piece

yes I have them plumbed inline with each bag so they serve as fill and dump controls.here is basically what I have.

Is it a clunk, or sort of a pop?

The reason I ask is that in some instances a double convoluted bag can sort of "seal" on it's self. When that seal frees up you will hear a clunk or pop.

Does the rate of lift change when you hear the sound?

its more of a clunk. i noticed this weekend that after playing around with the bags, the less air you have in the tank the slower the up motion is. well as it started slowing, the rear would lift nice and easy without the clunk. this is why i figured that the rear is lifting to fast when the air tank is full or mostly full.

Dang it Mario, I told you to stop playing with your bags...you'll go blind!

so i want to slow the air going up and down, would i need 8 of those ball valves, one for each valve?

nope,if you run them inline with the bags then it will slow down up and down

ok, sorry i'm not a whole lot sure when it comes to this, how many of them will i need then and how and where do i put them?

you need four of them after all the valves right before the lines go to the bags

ok cool, so basically it would go, valve, ball valve, air line, bag? my setup isnt like yours where the valves are connected right to the tank. mine are underneath the car, 4 in the front and 4 in the back. maybe i could post pics up of the valve setup and you could tell me where i would put the ball valves?

why run big air line then put valves into slow you down, shouldnt you have just went with 1/4 line and spent less money for all your fittings, line, valves...etc, personally i like it fast...hehehe

yeah, i like it fast too, but i think it may be too fast. at least when i put the ball valves on i can control how fast i want it. i want to just slow it down enough to where i dont get that clunking sound.

did the noise change at all when you put the new shocks on?

the brackets are tight and the bags are tight on them also?

yeah, i took it into the shop that did the install and they looked that all over. when i take them the ball valves, i'll have them recheck everything again.

 hmmm id have to hear it to understand it better, but i dont think that its a problem of going up to fast, because i should have the same noise then, this ones got me cofused but i hate to see you spend money on the valves and the noise still be there, it may just be a normal noise for you, or has it always been there,a dn going slower may help but it might just make the noise softer sounding too....

the noise has been there for just about as long as i can remember. i'm running out of ideas. i got to check and make sure my spare tire is bolted down tight too. if its loose that might be whats clunking around back there.

that would suck if it was but at the same time i would have to laugh, i never thaught of the spare, you should try to take all the stuff out of the back there and see if it does it, maybe its just that stuff back there giving you all the problems
