Will 18x8 with a 35mm offset rub on a hotchkis drop?

 

hey there, thats a good question. I have hotchkis springs and i should be getting m wheels within the ext couple of days. The are going to be 18x8 with 35mm offset, ill let you know as soon as i can if nobody post before me..........I really hope it doesn't rub, maybe i should have ased this question before i bought. lol

 

Haha yeah I was about to order but I decided to get some responses first. You'll be my guinea pig then if no one responds, lol. What rims? I was looking at the Tork Imagine in hyperblack

 

We'll see, im not to worried though. I went with the Tork F-15 in hyperblack, I think it might look snazzy on my superwhite.

 

Depends on the size of tire you go with. I wouldn't go with anything bigger than 225s. As long as your Springs are less than 2", you should be alright. You might experience minor rubbing on big dips and u-turns.

I did some research online and it says your drop is 1.7" front and 1.97" rear. With a 225-sized tire, you should still be ok with a +35 offset. Like I said before, you might incur MINOR rubbing.

 

BTW-I have TRD Springs (1.25" drop all around) with a +35 offset and 18x 8.5" rim and I hardly rub. (Just over the previously mentioned dips and occasional u-turns. )

 

You will rub up front from time to time. I'm running Tein H tech springs 1.9" front and 1.5" rear drop on 225/40/18 with +35 offset. I had 235's but they rubbed up front all the time. The rear rubbed until I added the the sway bars. I decided to switched to 225's. All depends on how fast you go over the dips and bumps in the road. At HWY speeds definitely. I rubbed off an upper fender liner clip on each side in front. Little by little just began to disappear it was actually kind of cool.

 

hey i got my rims today and put them on. I haven't rubbed yet, but hey its still early, ill post some better pics once i get her washed. This michigan wheather is terrible.

well i still haven't got any good pics but as far as rubbing goes.................
Okay first off the car looks sick, its flush and just down right sexy. I rubbed for the first time today, and its only because i was turning and didn't slow down enough before i went up a driveway, but other than that, i pretty pleased the only thing i'm having problem with is getting aligned, and i don't think the wheels were balanced good cause i get vibration on the freeway, but im getting that taken care of now. so all and all you really just have to be careful, kinda like instead of goin for speed on street try some slow motion driving, lol, then everyone can see your masterpiece, and you won't have to worry about rubbing. lol

 

If u just installed your springs they will still settle a little before your car gets to its final drop. But with the Hotchkis drop I don't think you'll rub all that much. As far as the alignment goes you need the rear camber kit to get the right alignment. Just my 2 cents

 

thanks for the info flint. belle tire alligned front and rear without the kit, and it seems to be riding smooth, but ill give it some time, ill prob get the camber kits anyway.
But anywho I got some pics, nothing special, and sorry for the dull tires but its to cold to be putting on armor all
