I have just ordered my xB. One weird thing I noticed is that you can't open the back gate without the key fob. Is this true? Isn't there a manual latch somewhere?

oh, you mean that it's odd there's no KEYHOLE on the rear door.

I suppose - although I think most like that, looks much cleaner.

if the front and rear door handles were the same size (fronts are longer) - I'd replace the fronts with another set of rear door handles (to shave the locks off)

Yeah, it only works with the power locks. Also, it's electric so if your battery goes dead, it won't pop the trunk.

When you get a chance, read your owner's manual...
Thier is a manual release inside the the hatch (you must remove the lining to access it). This is for emergencies only of coarse,

Im glad they did not put a key hole in the back because i would not of used it anyways. I use the fob for everything. In fact, I have never used the keys in any of the doors!!

Well, I like the clean look with no keyhole, but they could have had the rear emblem rotate to reveal a keyhole.
I mean what if my fob dies at an inconvenient time?

Yeah, I agree with you. The only thing the rear lock cylinder is good for around here is getting corroded and frozen.

Geez! how hard would it be to:
A: Stick you key in the driver's side key hole and open the door...
B: Press "unlock" on the driver's door pad...
C: walk to the back and open the hatch...

If your fob dies just put your key in the drivers door and give it 2 twists. That will unlock all the doors and the hatch.

Has anyone noticed that if you arm the security with the fob while inside the car, you can't unlock the doors with the door lock buttons. Of course unlocking it by pulling up on the actual lock tab sets the alarm off. Basically your locked in!
