Default What kind of shop...

Ok, so I tried to get interest going for Ptuning to make a harness bar for the tC (https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...208&highlight=) but that didn't work out... so, I need to know what kind of shop does custom fabbing like this? The Autopower roll bar is nice but it's not the best idea for a DD so I would like to get a harness bar fabbed up (that will bolt in to factory points and, hopefully, have the bar part be bold in as well). But again, I'm not sure what kind of shop you go to for work like this...

Also, one other question while I'm at it... when running a harness bar, since the belts go over the bar thus making the correct angle with the seat, where do you mount the belts? Ptuning's is like so:

But is that the best or just bolt the shoulder harnesses to the floor?

Thanks again guys. What would I do without SL?

You definitely want it to be mounted correctly and at the proper angle for sure. You dont want the belt to compress (pull down) you when it tightens and you dont want it pulling upward either, since that will allow more forward movement.

Another thing to consider is that with 4-point harnesses that dont allow much movement at all, you can end up more at risk in a rollover if the top caves in on you, since your body cant move out of the way. This is why most 4-point harness setups are on vehicles with a cage.

Right. I want the bar to be right where it should be. My question is about the belts themselves... what's better, for them to go over the bar and then back to bolts towards the rear like in the pic or straight to the floor?

Also, I was under the impression that the roof frame of the car was so overengineered to act like a full roof in lue of having a glass roof that cave-ins were rare in our cars...

Cave-ins should be rare. However, it is no race car either, so even with a full roof there is a chance that the pillars will give in a bad rollover. On a race car, with a full cage, it is very hard to crush the top.

As far as running it over the bar, I think that is the best way to ensure proper alignment of the belt. A good shop that deals with this type of thing should be able to best advise you on it though.
