Default Is supercharger buildable?

Alright i need sum help ppl. I want some more power out of my tc and i got the money. First i was looking at the zpi stage one turbo kit but that was a lil pricey and seemed like alot of work. My friend had told me to look into the trd supercharger since the motor was built to work with it. The only thing i didnt like about it is that it was pretty weak. I have loooked at the nst 9.5 lbs pulley and also i know you can order a 12 psi pulley through them. I have heard rumors though that if you were to run the 12psi pulley that you would need an intercooler with it and i dont feel like going through all that. What ever i decide on im going to get the GReddy emanage ultimate, period. I plan on getting the MMW header and the zpi midpipe with sum kind of resonator, if necessary. Whether its the turbo or sc im going to install it my self then get it tuned be sum professional. What should i do? Another question i found a link that is selling the trd sc for 2300, is that a joke or you think its the real thing? My friends are faster than me so i need POWER! haha

you should talk to cessblood and icenine. they have trd supercharged tc's with 300+ power. ofcourse it sounds like cessblood is planning on changing his tc to a turbocharger. anyway.

If you are asking about building a SC then the answer is no, not without a ton of expertise. If you are asking about building around the SC, then the answer is yes but money is better spent towards a turbo imo.

the whole point of the supercharger is that it is a warrentied boost in power, but that warrenty is voided upon any kind of modification. so when if it blows your engine, your sol. so if you want some real power, just go turbo. building an s/c is considerably more difficult.

trust me man, suck up the work you dont wanna do and go turbo. in your situation that you have explained above, you are most likely to be happier and have an easier life.

and yes the $2300 S/C link is legit (i should just add this to my sig...)

damn ive been alot of help from both sides of the situation ..i still dont really know what im going to do. It seems the sc would be alot less work right? and i think a turbo set up would be more likely to break than the sc

but the S/C doesnt have the greatest track record at coexisting with other mods added to it besides a catback exhaust...

it has been done but at the off chance that your supercharger developes a problem then you would be SOL.

and you stated that you want POWER. well the S/C needs reletively more work and money to get as much power as a turbo would get you.

do a search, there are far more people with superchargers and problems both stock and modified, than there are guys with turbochargers and problems. go take a tour of the forced indution forum, you'll find them.

supercharger gives you 40 hp, it has a warrenty, as long as your tc is virtually stock. you can build it, but aside from a pully to increase the boost, there isn't alot of aftermarket support for it. there aren't intercoolers for it. most people do water/meth injection.

you could get something like a zpi stage 0 with emanage and an intercooler and a bov, plus gauges and have 230 whp. and later on upgrade to a 300 hp stage 1 set up.

you said you are looking for something buildable, than supercharger is not the path to go. i'd go turbo. maybe you should check out the dezod signature systems since you can make almost any configuration you could ever dream of.

S/C to say proally is more buildable but u need to contact vortech for it. The S/C in general though has been made a holllee lot more reliable buy a post that garage1217 made identifying all the weakneses

not gonna start a S/C spec war but yes borderguy881 i really beleive that you would be dissappointed with the s/c if you got it. Im happy with mine and where i am at, but it does not seem at all right for what you are wanting.

^^listen to him. if u are looking for power, definitely go with turbo. the only reason i would say go s/c is if u want a decently fast boosted car under warranty. if u jus want power, go turbo buddy. and as far as maintainance, with the track record the s/c has, turbo is probably almost on the same level as far as maintainance is concerned. the thing is with turbo, u gotta have extra money lying around just in case something goes wrong and u need to replace it. with s/c, u gotta make sure ur oil levels are where they are suppose to be, and most dealers will prolly give u a hard time if u have mods on the car.

but like i said, if it's power you really want go turbo.

Very well said. This seems to be the common misconception when people start talking about modding the s/c to get performance. I had the s/c and was disappointed with the end result performance wise. It was a quick car and I loved the clean setup under the hood not to mention the warranty. If you going to buy a s/c, do it for the right reasons.
