Default Any others have this problem???

Sometimes when the box sits unused for 2 weeks or more you put it in gear after starting and it won't move right away. I was like WTF, it won't go. I then have to let it run awhile and warm up then it will drive normal with no more slipping. Anyone else expience this sort of thing ???

I'm going to assume ur talking about a manual...

I found the same behavior on my car on cold SF mornings, so during the 2-3 mins of warming up my car, I shift through all the gears a couple of times, slowly.... just to not only re-orientate myself with the shifting (my other car is a 6 speed Matrix XRS), but also to work the gears ..

Even at stop while driving, I notice that sometimes I have a hard time getting the clutch to stick into 1st.. I have the clutch all the way down too...

stock clutch... thanks toyota!

No, I'm sorry it's an auto. It won't move right away when it's cold and only after sitting 2 weeks or more.

Fliud was full and it has 32K on it. Works normal most of the time. Only thing I can figure is that the fluid drains down into the pan after sitting and takes awhile to circulate through the trans.
It never slips or does this anyother time. Plus it was cold when this happened that might be part of it too.

I won't even pretend to know much technically about an auto trans, but something doesn't sound right. It should flat not do what it's doing, IMO.
If the fluid is draining out of the converter over time, check it before you even start the engine and see how high it is on the stick. Like do it once when it's only been a day, then again when it's been a week or two, or however long it ends up sitting.
If possible, you might want to have it towed to the dealer and have them take a look at it.
The reason I say have it towed is that they're going to say "could not reproduce problem" the day after you take it to them if you drive it onto the lot, and they won't want it sitting around for two weeks either.
I would guess you're still covered under warranty too. Isn't drivetrain covered for 5yrs/60k miles?
30k might be pushing it for fluid life. My last car was a Ford Taurus which is *famous* for blowing trannies. The best way to get decent life and performance out of them was to change the fluid every 30k. Some people even went as far as to install a drain plug and do a change once a year, no matter what.

I changed the tranny fluid at 20K with the Toyota Tech IV stuff.
I'll have to do than and see if the fluid is draining out of the converter over time. Only problem is now that the weather is nice, I doubt it will be sitting more than a few days without seeing duty.

Mine does the same kind of thing, only sitting after a while like yours. Mine will go right away it just feels like it is bogged down until it warms up. I just take it easy until it warms up, and have not had a problem. The users manual also says to basically take it easy until the blue (cool temp) light goes out. Mine is fine after that

It's kinda like you gotta give it a little more gas than normal but a couple times it wouldn't move and I didn't want to give it too much gas so I just let it run a few seconds before I tried moving forward again.

I haven't had any problems after letting mine sit a couple of weeks, You could be right about the tranny fluid taking a bit to circulate. I have always started mine once a week (even if it is going to sit) and let it run a few minutes, especially when it is very cold.

Every single day, when my engine is cold (at or below 34 degrees outside), I stick in 2nd gear. Once I hit 5000 RPM it shifts into 3rd. Of course, it doesn't go into OD (4th and 5th) until the engine is warm.

Only does this once, then no more sticky-sticky.

Is that similar?

Mine is an AT, of course.

I'm trying to ignore it, cause by the time I drive to the dealer, the problem's gone.

Nope, mine only slips when first trying to put in drive and start to move. I hit the gas and engine rpms come up slightly and no movement so I put it back in park and let it run a few more seconds and then it's fine. It's only happened 2 or 3 times in 3 years.

Yours sounds like a stuck valve or selenoid inside the valve body. I'd take it in and have it look at by the srvice dept.

Sounds like your e-brake is stuck....

Happens to me every time the car sits for too long.

If you plan to leave the parked for a while, don't pull the e-brake. See if that helps.
